61-0028 (not 029) belongs to the 49th TES and is "OT" coded rather than "LA" or "BD", so the chances of it deploying are effectively zero. Which is a HUGE shame because it looks absolutely fantastic in the photos!
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

It would make for some interesting photos and press stories if it came! May have had a few personnel assigned to oversee the cargo but basically it wasn't a pax flight.Three Geese wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 3:11 pmDid anyone hear how many pax were on board the 747 that arrived from Barksdale yesterday.

I agree, not the normal colour scheme for a deployment , but it would make a great addition for the static at RIAT ‘25.Ollie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:04 pmIt would make for some interesting photos and press stories if it came! Re: Possible Deployment
Looking back, 61-0028 is only known to have visited the UK twice and while it remains a test and evaluation airframe its likely to stay that way. Saw it at the RAF Bombing competition at Marham in June and July 1981, when it was one, of two, representing the 410th BW from K.I.Sawyer AFB. Its next appearance was at Fairford in June 1992 as part of a 92nd BW B-52H deployment from Fairchild AFB. Apart from those participating in the bombing competitions this was the first B-52H deployment to the UK.Philwinward wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2024 11:44 pmI agree, not the normal colour scheme for a deployment , but it would make a great addition for the static at RIAT ‘25.Ollie wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2024 8:04 pmIt would make for some interesting photos and press stories if it came! 61-0028 was also at Mildenhall Air Fete in 1997. I hope it was anyway- that’s where I have it logged!
Re: Possible Deployment
Do we know if 60-0008 still has 8th AF on the tail and the 8th AF nose art?

Re: Possible Deployment
It has a crest on the front section on the right side (I couldn't read it last night but I think it's an Eighth Air Force crest), it also had Lucky Lady IV nose art and 8AF/Mighty Eighth on the tail.

Re: Possible Deployment
Any history for 60-0008 over here, given that it was a big gap filler for me at least.
Re: Possible Deployment
Saw it at Upper Heyford in Oct 1964 and Marham in March 1967 - 19th BW Homestead both times.Sparky 119 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 3:59 pmAny history for 60-0008 over here, given that it was a big gap filler for me at least.

And that would account for why I haven’t seen it before.luxto wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:40 pmSaw it at Upper Heyford in Oct 1964 and Marham in March 1967 - 19th BW Homestead both times.Sparky 119 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 3:59 pmAny history for 60-0008 over here, given that it was a big gap filler for me at least.

Re: Possible Deployment
Hi all.
Always amazed at people's records for x or y visits in the past. So are there any of the active H models that haven't visited the UK?
Assuming someone has a B1/B2/B52 spreadsheet running.
600008 btw was at Nellis during last year's early Red Flag.

Some bays are better than others for viewing purposes..
Many Thanks
