I think Wedgetail is based on what the Australian's call theirs. IIRC a wedgetail is an Australian Bird (?)

It is indeed - the RAAF E-7 Project Wedgetail named after the native wedge-tailed eagle or eaglehawk. We adopted the same name for for ours.

Has WT001 flown again since its flight from Southend in October? Things seem to have gone very quiet, or is it just not being reported on from Birmingham? Thanks.
