Sadly still around...
Yup, he's absolutely racking in the cash now - I have no idea why, though. I just find him to be a complete embarrassment to the aviation enthusiasts that know what they're talking about.

Flying anything is much more difficult than it was made to appear.
Flying isn't difficult and all the flying GM did was pretty easy. Funny watching him looping. Flying accurately takes skill and practice.

There's always something to learn. "Aviation in itself is not inherently dangerous. But to an even greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any carelessness, incapacity or neglect." Those wise words accompany me on every flight.

Finally got to see it on catchup. Apart from the excellent air to air photography, I thought it was a waste of time for enthusiast and casual oberver. I couldn't really work out what he was trying to achieve that was so difficult or dangerous. The jeopardy seemed to be totally ficticious, and the garage built jet engine was hardly a chellenge was it? but that voice over! Why do they use that bloke?

Well yes I'd love to have a go in a JP and a Vampire, but it doesn't change my view of the programme.

I see no signs of jealousy so far. Just because people aren't fans of his has no correlation. I for one have no desire to fly in a fast jet of any vintage. Slow and steady for me.

I wonder if (for example) a man, having built a personal brand and reputation in heavy metal 'music' , decided to take Mozart and put his twist to it, classical musicians may be somewhat disgruntled. Especially after said man went from practicing scales to a music degree in five minutes?

I agree many here would like to be in his position, but I think is more anger at the fact he treats it as a 'bolt on' if you will, to his career, where many will have work for years upon years with the sole purpose of sitting in that seat (not something I have experience of, you may.)

P.S Lets not forget to the general public it properly appeared as an in-depth programme, the BBC are focused on the majority of their viewers.

I see what you're saying but don't really agree. Some people at work watched it, they have no aviation interest, and they didn't really get the point either. I'm a biker and have massive respect for his riding, I saw TT3D at the cinema, fantastic film but this programme just felt like someone thought they'd cash in on his reputation in some sort of high speed environment, or something. Nitpicking, it was Channel 4 not BBC. The BBC did an excellent series in the 80s about different aspects of aviation, that was brilliant, especially the episode about the spirit of aviation which appealed to enthusiasts and the public alike. More recently the Warbird Workshop series were pretty good too.

yes but I probably wouldn't bother if he does another aviation themed programme after this one. I didn't see the others he's done either.
