RAF Valley 3/9/1980 FAA Wasp

I was at Valley on 03/09/1980 and recorded a FAA Wasp with the code 583. Miss pole for 503 ??

Also noted besides 15 Hawks (not required) were a yellow Wessex, a yellow Whirlwind and a camouflaged Jet Provost.

'BAR' 11/80 has a report from Portland for 17/9 which includes ref to Wasp HAS.1 XT790/'503' of 703 Sqn; and one from Culdrose
for 'early October' which includes ref to Sea King HAS.2A XV673/-'583' of 706 Sqn.

My guess - candidates for the camo JP could be the grey/green 79 sqd examples XP547 "03" or XP564 "04"..........maybe

I believe there were four JPs wearing camo on hand with 79 squadron. XR679 and XS219 I think were the others at that time, XS178 (still wore red/white in 1983) came in to replace XP564 after it was abandoned and crashed. XR679, XP547 and XS178 all were painted grey before retirement, I think XS219 remained in camo, not that any of that really helps identification.
