Where were you when Hamilton was winning all the time...? Or anyone else for that matter? And how do you know the result if you don't care?

Best stick to your tennis if you find F1 boring, just look at the huge amount of interest your thread attracted to the forum :- viewtopic.php?f=90&t=234471Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 5:27 pmAnd please do tell where I said I never cared James? Re: Formula 1 2023
Back on topic it was actually a fantastic race, great battles up and down the order and at least Ferrari held on for a lot longer than I thought, hopefully it keeps up for the rest of the season. They even didn't have a massive blunder!
Like him or loathe him, 10 race wins on the bounce is an impressive feat and not easy. Must admit I'd never thought Vettel's record would be broken so congrats.
Monza is often a great race so hopefully it keeps up for the season remainder.

Re: Formula 1 2023
I enjoyed it, the best race of the season so far in my opinion.

Re: Formula 1 2023
I often find some of the older "classic" circuits if you will, provide much better races, rarely have a "boring" Monza!
Re: Formula 1 2023
Can't say I agree, whilst it wasn't anywhere near the most boring race I've ever seen, it was far from fantastic. The majority of the action was DRS trains, which only changed when offset strategies played in. Whilst it was nice to see a genuine fight for the lead for a change, the fact is its the nature of the circuit that means its difficult to overtake here. Had Sainz not made his error (oh look a Ferrari mistake), the only chance boy wonder would have had to get past him was through the undercut, which with Leclerc hovering around his anus was not a guarantee.James Cutting wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 6:05 pmBack on topic it was actually a fantastic race, great battles up and down the order and at least Ferrari held on for a lot longer than I thought, hopefully it keeps up for the rest of the season. As for Vettels former record (shared with Ascari technically), yes you have to give it to him (asuming this year's car proves within the cost cap of course), whilst remembering this is one of the most dominant cars ever built, also one of the most reliable, and in a season with nearly double the races in Vettels case.
As for the Monza curse....

Whilst not a classic so to speak, Sepang is one I miss. Plus Fuji would be nice instead of Suzuka every year.James Cutting wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 6:17 pmI often find some of the older "classic" circuits if you will, provide much better races, rarely have a "boring" Monza!

And another honorable mention for Lawson, a cracking job again today.

Re: Formula 1 2023
He'll get another go at Singapore, Horner saying even Suzuka is doubtful for Danny. He's doing alright is Mr Lawson.

I thought it was quite IMHO with a few decent battles, well more than we usually get.seven wrote: ↑Sun Sep 03, 2023 8:17 pmCan't say I agree, whilst it wasn't anywhere near the most boring race I've ever seen, it was far from fantastic. It certainly is in an impressive and extremely reliable car.
Tsunoda's got to be sweating about his seat surely...The fact 2 drivers have jumped into the second seat and are so close to him and nearly getting it into the points for a car that doesn't belong in the points is very impressive.
Re: Formula 1 2023
Depends on the decision with Perez. If they get rid of him then his seat is safe enough. Ricciardo would no doubt be boosted back up.
Plus of course if rumours are to be believed that next years alpha will be basically an RB19...

Well, it could well be Lando in the seat to replace Perez, that would be interesting...
(Although we know what Helmut Marko is like!)

Re: Formula 1 2023
Great to see Alex Albon in the points plus he seems like one of the good guys.
Williams have improved recently as have McLaren and Norris spent a large part of his Sunday trying to get past Albon.
The reliability of all the cars on the grid is amazing when compared to 20 years ago. Is that down to better materials etc or not running at full potential?

Re: Formula 1 2023
I can't remember the last time F1 cars actually ran (a race) at full power!

Re: Formula 1 2023
How do you know this?
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: Formula 1 2023
Great to see Williams and specifically Albon doing better. It's down to money. The limit on the number of engines plays a big part, long gone are the days of engines just for qualy and just dropping in a new one when it suited. I suspect they could get more grunt out of them but then they would be pushing the limits. You've also got the general cost cap holding teams back. To level things up they need to impose bigger restrictions on the winning teams. I wouldn't be saying that if Lewis was still winning though. I remember back in the 90's you'd see that little stream of smoke coming from the back of the car and knew the engine was about to die. Was certainly an interesting element at the time.slogen51 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 06, 2023 6:35 amGreat to see Alex Albon in the points plus he seems like one of the good guys.

So Damon is saying Merc have a winning car for '24 and Rosberg says Norris is on the move in '24 rather than seeing his contract out. I don't think I'd like him at RB, unless Max clears off he's never going to be #1. Pains me to say it but I don't think he's as good as Max, you've also got the unpredictable Marko element, could find himself without a decent drive.
