Leeming exercise
Leeming exercise
I see the "Leeming locals" are as active as ever, with no posts about todays numerous exercise movements - with exception of Dave Thompson in "Heads Up" :-(

That's what I thought - must be a secret

Re: Leeming exercise
Maybe they just don't post to the internet as frequently anymore like many of the old Warton regulars. Its not always about keeping things quiet, sometimes people simply fall out with the internet, especially social media..

Re: Leeming exercise
Both ZH865 & ZH877 visited yesterday (C-130J's), confirmed from photographs in the Leeming FB group.
Re: Leeming exercise
But they post on Face Book. So maybe they just use this forum for the "heads up"
Re: Leeming exercise
I get that Mark, bit tongue-in-cheek on my part! If I want to see stuff at Leeming I need to get off my butt and pay a visit (hopefully on Thursday). Cheers, PeteMark wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 8:00 amMaybe they just don't post to the internet as frequently anymore like many of the old Warton regulars. Re: Leeming exercise
I've been on FC since about 2008 (along with UKAR) and it is sad to see many of the old regulars gradually drift away from the forums for social media. Not sure if its information withholding on the forums by some or a natural progression with new technologies and platforms. I mean, with exception of Chris's Warton logs we rarely see any photo's or posts in the Warton section anymore. The guys that used to post (myself included) rarely have anything of value that they deem to be worth sharing.
Sadly I think this process will continue as time goes on, but then i see a lot of entitled questions being asked of military movements that people automatically expect answers to from quite a few newer members and in all honesty its quite annoying... but maybe thats just me getting older and less patient with the new aviation generation coming up behind us..

Credit DC hope he doesn't mind me posting but I believe the three AV HH-60 due in Lakenheath on Friday is a gas and go to Leeming for cobra warrior
Re: Leeming exercise
Does anyone know what the exercise is called ?
I've been working the last couple of days but have popped down a few times and kept my eye n the screens.
All post a log under new thread and keep the primary post updated

Re: Leeming exercise
Sorry, whilst I appreciate you are new to FC, I feel you are being very misleading by starting your new "Transport Exercise Participants" thread, and lumping participants from different exercises in it.
I for one feel you would be better off deleting it.

Re: Leeming exercise
Sorry for this belated reply but I've been busy posting on Facebook ! No , not true but therein I think lies the answer as more and more aviation enthusiasts , particularly the younger generation which makes me sound geriatric when I'm not - honest , use social media rather than web based forums like this or even email groups to both keep in touch and post-up both information and photos the latter being particularly easy and without the need for an online photo album .
RAF Leeming has two Facebook groups , enthusiasts and spotters , and I generally post to the former although at times nothing at all appears on either even though the airfield could be busy but the groups are dependant upon someone taking the time to post between logging or photographing just as this forum does and the lack of posts can be frustrating at times .
Back in the day we had the late Len Taylor who was very much old school and posted an almost daily log as crofter33 but Len passed in 2012 , the late Howard Gent was another old school spotter and regulars like Paul Greig and Dave Stock , with apologies for any other regulars omitted , still post as and when they can but circumstances change over the years which I'm sure is also applicable to most if not all of this forums Spotters Area posts throughout the Uk plus of course a shrinking Royal Air Force .
Lets just enjoy our hobby as best we can and contribute what we can , when we can no matter what the format . Anyway , only Closed Field Ops today so chopper activity only with Gazelle XW847 out early over the Middlesbrough area with a large camera/sensor on its starboard side and it didn't get its skids nicked either !
