Hi,
I have a picture of an AV8B taxiing at Yuma on this date, serial number 164145, however, it is marked up as HMM-166/652/YX. As far as I can tell this is not an AV8 unit.
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thank you.

VMM-166 squadron , the AV-8 would of been part of the composite squadron assigned to a LPD deployment .
YX would of been a CH-46 unit at that time .
As being the largest unit assigned to the LPD all associated aircraft temporary adopt the YX code as well.
