I agree with Yammer, the VA.2-xx serials were never used and aircraft re-allocated VA.1A-xx and VA.1B-xx

Apologies for the bum steer on this one. 'BAR' also makes reference in the same report to two more EAV-8Bs which arrived on 8/6, VA.2-5/01-905 and VA.2-8/01-908, but there is no follow-up info in subsequent 'Waddington' reports nor the 'Agro' sections by way of correction. You live and learn!

These Spanish Harriers were a challenge at the time as I don't think they carried any external serials for the first few years, just side codes. So there was a degree of uncertainty over their correct serials and the format of that serial - was it VA1 - VA1A - VA.1 - VA.1A - VA2

Later on the external serials were painted onto the rear fuselage ( circa 2005 ? ) and revealed themselves to be in the VA.1A..... format.

Then some were later re-built and upgraded and deep joy re-serialled.
