Last Thursday at Carlisle

Post by landshark2084 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 9:07 pm

Hi people,....it's great to be back !

Was just about to post these on Thursday night, when........

Well, anyway, dusted off the passport, and took myself down to sunny Carlisle for the Dutch deployment.....I was not disapointed ! :D A Cougar, Chinook and two Apaches took off for a morning sortie. Here are some that I took.

First up was Cougar S-457

I prefer this scheme to the grey........

although it can be a b****r against autumn foliage !

next was the 'Wokka' (D-667),

followed by Apaches Q-25

and Q-14,

just over an hour later they returned,

all in all, a nice trip, cheers,Alan. :thumb:

Good shots in good light - and what an excellent place Carlisle is for getting photos of the aircraft. Always love seeing shots with the hills in the background.
If only Albemarle could have similar visibility for exercises based there, with its tree cover gradually reducing its photo opportunities!
Revised plans for Carlisle (http://www.carlisleairport.co.uk/docume ... wing08.pdf is I think the proposal subject to planning conditions) hopefully won't affect future dispersals, although the warehouse is planned for the spot often used by UK Apache Longbows.
Roll on the next exercise and more good light.

Thanks for the comments guys, only my second trip to Carlisle, and for photography in the morning I found it a great location.
Fingers crossed that any future developement of the airport doesn't change that.

Cheers,Alan. :thumb:
