I've seen this pic published in bar books over the past few years, I'm pretty sure it's an MOD publicity shot.
There were only two squadrons based in the UK, 66 & 92 at Linton on Ouse. The rest were based in Germany, but as more Hunters became available, all squadrons re-equipped after only 2 or 3 years. The surviving Sabres were generally overhauled and passed on to other NATO countries, Italy and Yugoslavia received most. XB812 at Cosford was returned from Italy. Going back many decades, I remember seeing XB733 at Biggin Hill a couple of times, although it was still in Italian markings, who knows where it ended up. In the early sixties, XB982 was at Filton, but no doubt ended up being scrapped at some time.

Somewhere I have a photo of me when I was a schoolboy sitting on the wing of that at Biggin. Thanks for the info on it's origin, maybe I can make my 1/48 Sabre as XB733.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is.
No stamp on the back but hand written 92 Sqn Linton-on-Ouse 1956. The image doesn't fill the 5 x 4 card it's printed on by some margin. Given you can see the edges of the negative, I reckon it's a contact print of a large format negative. Possibly a trial print before the official prints were made. Either way, I'm pleased to have added it to my collection.

I remember seeing XB733 in a barn near Blackpool..late 1970s maybe early 1980s (Much Hoole?).. think it was preserved before this at Blackpool Airport.. after that I think it went to auction at Duxford and ended up in USA.. somewhere I have a grainy slide of it in the barn at the farm it was at.
