NAS Fallon October 1994
During the George Pick west coast tour and am missing a few serials and code tie ups from the visit to NAS Fallon. Note taking at the time was pretty lax. Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Mudhen,
I was there too and I can tie up a few.
Strike 10 was 162420, Strike 11 was 162474 and Strike 15 was 162844.
VFA-127 code 02 was 162411.
VFC-13 code 13 was 161711.
A-6 Strike 50 was 155627.
I too have a lot of stuff to find out!

Thanks for the quick reply.
Bit of a daft question, do you have a copy of the itinerary or the dates of the visits. Have lost the note books and have been using the photos for info.

Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
The actual itinerary is buried somewhere, it has all the flight and hotel details on it. But these are basic details.
7 October - fly Gatwick to Houston and then to Midland. The following two days were spent at the CAF Show.
10 October - fly Midland to Phoenix via El Paso. Visit Mesa Falcon Field including Champlain Fighter Museum and also CAF Arizona Wing HQ. From here we visited Chandler Field and ended the day staying in Tucson. We stayed here for a few nights.
11 October - DM Heritage Park and Pima Museum.
12 October - tour of Tucson airport including the ANG. We then went to view Marana from outside, then the Evergreen Museum, then Silver Bells AAP for Army choppers, finishing at Avra Valley.
13 October - Tucson airport and DM tour plus the fence walk.
Got to look at another log book. Be back soon!

Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
Carrying on from last entry.
14 October - fly Tucson to San Diego. From here we travelled by coach via Oakland to hotel in San Francisco.
15 October - visit Oakland for Western Aerospace Museum. Afterwards some of us went to San Francisco airport for the afternoon, others went sightseeing.
16 October - by coach from hotel to Sonoma Valley, then Travis AFB including museum, then motel somewhere.
17 October - by coach to Beale AFB and McClellan AFBs including museums, then to Reno.
18 October - Reno Stead airport, then Fallon NAS for tour.
19 October - Reno Cannon Airport including ANG tour, then fly via Las Vegas to San Diego and stay for a couple of nights.
20 October - tour of Miramar, then San Diego Aerospace Museum.
21 October - visit El Toro MCAS including USMC Museum, then to Chino. General leisurely walk round visited Planes of Fame, Fighter Jets Museum and Yanks Air Museum. We also looked at four H-34s in a yard before going to stay somewhere.
22 October - Edwards AFB Open House. Some of us took a detour to Lancaster Fox Field.
23 October - quick look at Palmdale, then coach to LA for a few hours, then flew to Houston for flight back to Gatwick.
Hope this helps, Mudhen.

Hi Mudhen,
Blimey! After 26 years hearing about this trip! I was on it as well - small world.
What I have done is scanned from my log book serials taken that day and can send those pages to you via email if you wish. If you are not happy about putting you email details on here then if you text me the email address I can do it that way - your choice (or any other we can make work)
I'm 90% certain I still have the original printed itinerary as well but I've just got to remember where I put it! (It's no fun getting old!)

Hey Mustang,
You say you have the flight details - did you note the serials of the a/c we flew on?
I'm missing the Boeing 727 between LA & Houston on 23rd October. For some reason I scribbled "N738PE" which ain't right,
Cheers

I'll start dismantling the spare room this evening and dig them out. And yes, the 727 was a former Alitalia aircraft..

Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
The 727 we flew on was N578PE.
Other aircraft we flew on were the following. Sorry no flight numbers until I find the tour itinerary.
7 October - Continental 747 N17010 LGW to Houston.
7 October - Houston to Midland Continental 737 N16617.
10 October - Southwest 737 N94SW Midland to Phoenix via El Paso.
14 October - Southwest 737 N329SW Tucson to San Diego.
19 October - Southwest 737 N329SW Reno to San Diego via Las Vegas.
23 October - Continental 747 N17025 Houston to Gatwick.
If you did the flight over DM, I was in Cessna 172 N19R.
I hope this helps.

Also former PEOPLExpress, hence the 'PE' suffix in it's registration.Mustang531 wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 4:22 pmI'll start dismantling the spare room this evening and dig them out. And yes, the 727 was a former Alitalia aircraft..
Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
Excellent Mustang, Thanks. (Bit late to pop into Specsavers)
I did do the overflight but I was in Cessna 182 N9661G.
Tick in the box for the rest though.
Don't worry about the flight numbers.
But like you I still have gaps, mostly centering on Miramar.
Cracking trip though wasn't it? I logged over 1400 mil not counting DM - the only low point.

Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
Hi Mudhen unfortunately I have come up with a blank on these. Sorry
Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
No problem, thanks for looking.
I know there is a book that lists each code for the F-14 with full histories, just cant remember the title. May be time to look into it.

Re: NAS Fallon October 1994
Don't know about a book but there is a website, which whilst not giving every single potted history, does have a lot of good gen.,batches, codes, fates etc ( Doesn't answer all of your queries though Mudhen)
