Going through some more negs and came across these from the 1992 Sky Pagent at Upper Heyford - 'Jack & Retract' and bomb loading demonstrations - something abit different from the norm.

Very interesting shots there. Unusual to see detailed maintenance or demo situations. Makes a change from the usual fence line or airshow images we usually see of UH. (I know these are taken at an airshow, but it's a very different aspect).

Good historical record of Heyford doing its thing.

I remember seeing a few similar demos with a Tornado and Jaguar at Cottesmore and Colt respectively. Gives you an idea of the amount of stored energy in those systems to move them, especially against the airflow.

We all know ejection seats are dangerous on the ground but many have learnt to their cost that the human body always comes off worst if you get it wrong when working with undercarriage systems, doors and airbrakes.

I remember going to a show must have been mid 70's . They only had a very small display in those days but they defiantly improved over the years. And became a defiantly must see.
