Storm Ciara

Post by slogen51 » Sat Feb 08, 2020 2:36 pm

Expecting gusts of up to 60 mph in Norfolk from mid night tonight and up to 80 mph on the South coast

Might be worth making sure any loose items in the garden are put away this afternoon.

Aye, unless ya trampoline's filed a plan!
There's up to twenty warnings on 'National Rail' and by the time I'm back on my concession on Monday I expect plenty of damage to overheads (the wonders of electrification), landslides and trees across the pw.

We had some quite high winds last month and our bin nearly went Woodly Dover

I assume the tankers at Mildenhall have been parked into the wind.

The wind has been blowing constantly at about 40 mph and gusting to 50+ all day here in West Norfolk

Three trees are swaying like the Anfield Kop and now the rain is absolutely torrential - it feels like Scotland in the spring!

Highest wind speed recorded yesterday was 94 mph according to one of the News channels certainly felt like it at times sitting in my apartment on top of the hill .
The local internet information service advising of around 15 trees down in the immediate area so the rush hour will be interesting at least .
Thinks I will stay in bed.

I see Duxford's Airspace hangar took a battering again, with damage and insulation exposed. Happened not that long ago, 2014 I think they had a similar issue.

Also helped knock the power out to parts of the area! Not just isolated to Lakenheath of course.
