Re: RAF Puma coded P?
Thats what I thought until I saw this and it doesn't look very black apart from the soot from the exhaust and the P on Black Peter was in white .

OTT/Local
12:01L - ZJ955/SHF309/X (Puma HC.2/RAF) Arrive Barton airfield for Refuel
I presume the X is the code ?
ZJ955 was noted on the families day coded X and an unidentified puma coded P was also present .

Re: RAF Puma coded P?
I'd hazard a guess at XW232, based on the code sequence.

Arff! Arff!
Showing your age
RAF Pumas are one of the hardest types to read off?

Re: RAF Puma coded P?
Rob,
According to my ADSB receiver, it was indeed XW232, airborne at 15:10. Three others flew Wednesday, but this was the only one at the time you noted.
I don't think the code is any larger than the others, based on other photos of other Pumas here on FC.
I haven't positively tied them all up (codes vs. serials) by eye yet, despite living a mile or so from Benson. As others note, the Puma's are difficult to read off!

Re: RAF Puma coded P?
15.10 fits with my photo also no other Pumas were active at least half an hour either side of this time frame.
Thanks roger4 and everyone else for their replies.

Re: RAF Puma coded P?
I've now seen photo proof on Facebook that P is indeed XW232.
