It was indeed. However only Windows 10 is fully supported and providing security updates. I guess it's a risk you take and with up-to-date AV/firewall minimises that risk.

Windows 10 is great, much better than that Windows 8.1 nonsense that I had on my last laptop!

Windows 7 was good, but W10 is even better.

Second that, Mike! Working with it day in day out (my job!) and it has come on leaps and bounds since it was first rolled out.

I'll quite interested to see when it drops the '10' from it, and it just goes to 'Windows' as I believe Microsoft plan on just releasing 'feature' updates.

any new platform is ok to start with then the patches and updates start coming then the whole lot slows right down mine some times locks up and internet explorer not responding etc there is that much on (10) that I will never use, its just knowing what to delete, have Norton and never used it lords knows what would happen if I got rid of that

Baz, often after big feature updates, Windows leaves a lot of residual files behind causing slowness etc.

If you do a search for 'disk cleanup' and run that, it gathers all these sort of files up for you. You might need to select 'clean up system files' to get the windows update ones to show. Once it has searched it gives you a list and then you can select what you want to delete and this clears up a lot of space.

Always worth going through programs and features and uninstalling anything you know you don't use. Nothing would happen if you got rid of Norton either, the PC would just default to using 'Windows Defender' (Window's own antivirus) - I bet you that Norton is causing a lot of slowness.

I got a new Windows 10 computer in the sales at the start of the year. Normally the first thing I do is delete McAfee/Norton if installed. This time I let the McAfee trial software run. As I was trying to process images, the computer kept slowing down and took forever to do anything. I deleted McAfee at the weekend and its been quick and smooth running since then.

They are shocking when they put pre-installed AV on Brian, always the crap that makes it on the PC Thought you might have noticed a difference! One I would recommend is 'Avast' - free, easy to use, and can be set to run quietly in the background protecting you - it's what I use
