Glasgow next year
Glasgow next year
Bit early I know but this time next year I believe a climate control conference is said to bring 200 world leaders to the event, anything like the one in Paris a few years ago there will be much to look out for.

Re: Glssgow next year
Wouldn’t imagine they’d be flying in give the concerns over chemtrails and the aviation industry impact on climate change.
Then again they are politicians.

I should think most would arrive by hot air balloon, since most of them are full of hot air, and some are total balloons

Skype! Actually why not? My employers encourage the use of non-travel communications. If the world leaders do really care then why not have "virtual" meetings? Do they really need to meet in person?
I'm sure there are more secure systems than Skype but you get the drift.

Common-sense suggestion from Nighthawke
But then, common-sense ain't too common amongst politicians, is it

Re: Glasgow next year
Our youngest daughter, until recently, had to fly Bristol to Edinburgh return every Friday in connection with her job. I queried with her as to whether or not video conferencing was a better solution, but she said that they had tried it and it was unsatisfactory, that in high powered meetings it was a far better result to meet people face-to-face, that the pace of the meeting moved far quicker, and one could see peoples reactions much better in that environment..

I think Dilbert's wisdom also supports this: https://dilbert.com/strip/2019-11-26raptor9 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 8:54 pmOur youngest daughter, until recently, had to fly Bristol to Edinburgh return every Friday in connection with her job. Re: Glasgow next year
Problem with video conferences is the unreliability of IP and varying delay from different locations as the meeting progresses. A few years ago I was involved in a series of attamepted and failed video conferences with participants in two London locations, Leeds, New York and Washington. Started well but soon descended into chaos.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
Re: Glasgow next year
I suppose it might be an interesting conference, seeing which world leader may poke fun at other fellow leaders ?
Re: Glasgow next year
If they did video calling then the world would probably not know about it but doing it face to face and all meeting in one place shows to the world that they are meeting to tackle the subject. Its all for show.
Re: Glasgow next year
Or maybe if they did video calling, the whole world would know instantly. If it goes via a computer it can and will be hacked!
Re: Glasgow next year
From an aviation aspect, what would be most interesting? The opening ceremony, or the signing ceremony at the end of the conference? What would attract the most VIP’s?
Re: Glasgow next year
if they don't get to meet face to face by flying to were ever then our hobby gets less
