A Few Fokker fancies from fetes of yore
Hi Peeps
The titles don't get any less banal, do they
Sorry about the 2x B&W pics, but the colour cast was hideous: the Mildenhall curse of into-the-sun shooting

The Dutch F.27s were always good for a display. They wouldn't be allowed to fly so low these days!
Nothing wrong with black and white either - keep posting please!

Ah, Patrick. Who could forget Major Boy Soons and his displays!!!!!!!. I know a lady named Karen Soons, who married into a Dutch Soons family, but no relation. Regards, J and T. P.S. Strange to see that BOTH engines are operating!!!. Didn't happen much in his displays!!!!!

More cracking memories Paddy, always enjoyed the KLU C27 display.

Hi peeps
Thanks for peeking and replying
It was always a highlight of any display day, especially with one engine feathered
Thankfully, the KLM jocks were a bit more sedate on the Norwich/Schipol run

Great retro set Paddy, with a good theme, well displayed in your shots. Is the first smoke F27, from Fairford 1989?.I always wished our own Andover drivers, would have
copied our Dutch neighbours...but they never took the bait to emulate such a good display, from them...

Oh the games people play now
Re: A Few Fokker fancies from fetes of yore
Wot no Tripehounds? Very different tho' Patrick. The Troopship display was one which seemed to have been around forever and badly missed when was no longer there. Met the last display pilot (not Maj Soons) @ Elvington some yrs. ago when he was flying the Duke of Brabant's Mitchell and he kindly signed one of my pics of his a/c which was painted in the white colour scheme. . I'll see if I can dig one out and post it here (+ one of a Tripehound which qualifies as a Fokker). Having posted it I see he was Jan Maasdam.
Further additions of Jan's Mildenhall display in '94 and a real Fokker from days of yore - a Tripehound!

Re: A Few Fokker fancies from fetes of yore
Great display, happy memories. Thanks for the reminder.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
Re: A Few Fokker fancies from fetes of yore
Hi Paddy . Always good to see some Fokkers. Keep those archive pics coming!
Re: A Few Fokker fancies from fetes of yore
Excellent memories of a spectacle that was exciting in its time & unbelievable now. I can almost hear the cry....
'See that Fokker go!'
