They can be a bit sensitive to diplomatic incidents. I remember going to Decci a few years back for some IDF that weren't there due to something said.

Hope the Labour party don't make an anti-Semitic gaff!
That made me spit my tea out laughing!

Thank you :p

Don't forget about the road works at Sutton Bridge

i think when the base sees how many people turn up for this, they will have to organise something akin to the Park and View for arrivals/departures if they hold another excercise at Waddo
Why and who pays for such a facility? The RAF has a job to do, and its not supplying a facility that gets used occasionally, and the money they have to spend comes from the tax-payers pocket. Spotters are by far in the minority of the general public. How would Joe and Jenny Public respond when money for the police, hospitals, etc, get spent on a car park!

Quite a few exercises these days cash in with a spotters day. I am not saying they should organise anything as it entirely up to them and they are probably too busy to do the security / I.d checks but they could make a lot of money charging say £20 per head?

I know a few lads that go abroad every few years to foreign bases that organise spotter days during their exercises.

Shame the RAF cannot do the same but just rely on one man who runs a food outlet in the viewing area

I'll be introducing a dedicated Cobra Warrior section shortly as per all the other big exercises.

If a Spotters Day was to be organised, we would have 10 pages of why, where, what and moans because it doesn’t fit in with everyone or cones are n front of aircraft.

Just be glad that CW will give the people the opportunity to see something; heaven forbid we become a Russia of China type state and this stops all together.

romeo bravo,
Not sure where you get that idea about Russia. This was back in July outside Kubinka Airbase.

No high fence, ladders, car parked on verge, and assume some decent aircraft, maybe its us in the wrong country 😊

First time I’ve seen the S400 missile system mated with a Nikon.

If you see a blue focus in the WAVE, it's mine - thought I would get a car in early!

Might need to be more specific, one of the regulars who is there pretty much every day has a blue focus

If I decide to come down I think I’ll hire another vehicle for the day instead of putting the miles on mine.

Looks as though the £5 charge has been scrubbed.
