Entirely agree that RIAT has lost its way, perhaps it should become a bi-annual show as it once had been and feature a much stronger central theme. This year there are fewer funds across the Globe, and Countries like France are heavily committed to conflicts like Mali, and they had Bastille Day last Sunday, what a line up they assembled for that.
Yes, full marks to RIAT but...
STRONGLY disagree on RIAT becoming Bi-Annual. Would be a nightmare to have to wait two years instead of just one. Already bad enough that it’s been a week or so longer to this one.
No doubt you are aware that IAT/RIAT was a bi-annual event at one time. It actually made the wait even better because in those days it was worth waiting for. I think there are now several other shows in Europe that seem to attract better participants than RIAT. Volkel got F-35A's, RIAT struggling to get an F-35 at all.
The way aircraft are dropping out of service life these days, bi-annual would be a stupid idea.

Wish they would move it to Mildenhall when the Americans leave, going to be another washout this year by the looks of it, i am praying for a miracle.

Wouldn't happen, and the forecast isn't even that bad - far from a wash out.

Haven't you got a base tour to sort out instead of replying on here...?

Lots of rumours of a B-2 flypast on Sunday according to various facebook pages.
If that's true, at what time would that be?
And is it possible to see this from outside riat? I don't have Sunday tickets and my flight from Bristol departs around 17:40 so maybe I could be able to catch it still :)

Also, is there any chance it lands at Brize? I will most likely be going there on Sunday and Friday
IIRC, Last year the B-2 was in the hold over Brize for 20mins or so, before being cleared to fly past, then than was just one flyby due to the length of time in hold.

Not that bad for weather - a little rain Friday late afternoon and a couple of hours Saturday - all subject to change of course as they predicted rain a couple of weekends ago for the following day where I live - turned out to be a hot, sunny day!

I take it that we are not getting anymore updates? Pity as I was expecting the Japanese to send something and I was hoping we might find out about the 2nd Sunday flypast.....If it is the B-2 again(i would prefer a B-52) then I hope it is not held over Brize for 20 mins like last year and also for it to be a bit lower as seemed very high and far away compared to 2017.

It's Tuesday, not Thursday ;) Japan aren't even in discussions so can't be a surprise if they don't confirm...B-2 will be a surprise announcement on the day as always, and it was held last year because of an overrunning Chinook (I believe) hence flying higher because of fuel

Once you start expecting then you are building yourself up to be dissapointed, The Japanese support of RIAT for the past 6 years has been phenominal.

According to a post on FB... the 2019 loyalty card has a Japanese F4 Phantom on it. Japan announced yesterday they would be at the Air Tattoo with government officials but didn't say anything about aircraft.

Yeah must say I won't be rushing to get one of those! The few that do are welcome to them!
