In the good old days, one Shackleton could muster '8 spinning propellers' all on its own....Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2019 5:10 pm
You got to love the 8 spinning propellers part of the email I mean there was more spinning last year with the BBMF trenchard formation.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Indeed. And if RIAT could muster either one for a Sunday flypast, I imagine that all would be forgiven!
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
From the "Latest updates" page on the RIAT 2019 website, you'd think that the people in DBH that are being paid to do a marketing job could at least get the year correct!
"Stay up-to-date with all the developments!
Make sure you're up-to-date with all the exciting news and chatter regarding plans for the 2018 Air Tattoo."

They are probably more interested in getting the prices right than the date

No Spanish EAV-8B Duo on Sunday, singleton only.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
The organisers need to organise the event better than this for next year. Friday people get half an Air Show and restricted access to the static.( Don't think a voucher to spend at the Air Tattoo store is the answer to compensate) and Sunday people appear to be getting seriously short changed. The flying attractions should be much more evenly distributed throughout the weekend.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Just do away with Friday and just stick to arrivals and PDA (if necessary). Show days sat/sun only. It always worked that way.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Rain and thunderstorms predicted for Fri and Sat. Wonder if that will affect the flying displays or lead to any cancellations? Or if they'll say postpone the flying to a later time so start at 12 rather than 10
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Interesting. Met Office suggests Saturday will be largely dry, with sunny intervals.

UKAR I will believe it when I see it Sunday. On RIAT's site, the duo are down to display Fri, Sat & Sun. Wouldn't be surprised if it's a windup.jasonT1981 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 13, 2019 10:52 pmcame from a post on UKAR. Person was speaking to the display pilots apparently.

They wouldn't cancel a week in advance. Weather changes daily, even hourly. You will see what happens on the day, as all crew/display pilots will make a call on the day, as to if they will display.
Met Office only showing 50-60% chance of rain, nothing on storms. Saturday sunny and cloudy. Just wait and see what it is like when you get there.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Fingers crossed, then the sunday goers can be really happy

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
I'm sure there was a reason they had to make friday a public day, something to do with insurance and/or viewing practices/validations as actual displays IIRC.John flightpath wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 9:38 amI think thats a very sensible suggestion Pete.PeteHemsley wrote: ↑Sun Jul 14, 2019 6:02 amJust do away with Friday and just stick to arrivals and PDA (if necessary).
