It's good they have said something about the NATO flypast but to be honest it's not much more than we already knew, same as the Sunday we knew they were still working on it weeks ago but the fact they still working on it means there is hope for something special being planned.James Cutting wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:14 amAlso, further update RE NATO Flypast:
So - They are still working on something for Sunday - Must be 'special' if they can't announce it yet! There's hopeWe can now reveal more about the special 70th anniversary flypast being planned to showcase NATO's air power capabilities at the 2019 Air Tattoo. This will be the only official NATO flypast taking place at a UK airshow this summer.
Joining the already confirmed NATO E-3A AWACS will be aircraft from Belgium, Denmark, Germany the United States of America and the UK.
The additional aircraft will include F-16AM fighters from the Belgian Air Component, whilst Germany offers a substantial commitment with Eurofighter EF2000s, A400M and Tornado strike aircraft.
The Royal Danish Air Force will also contribute with F-16 fighters, whilst the United States Air Force will be joining the flypast with F-15 aircraft from RAF Lakenheath. The Royal Air Force also plan to provide Typhoon fighters.
This commemorative flypast is due to take place on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 July. Where the flypast aircraft will operate from is yet to be confirmed, although it is hoped that some will be based at RAF Fairford.
We are still working on special flypasts for Sunday 21 July and will bring you more news as soon as we can.

Japan aren't even Amber on the site, just "Invited", so unless something is pulled out the bag last second I would be surprised.Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 12:23 pmfalconfighting wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 11:01 amToday's update:
With just over a week to go until the start of the 2019 Air Tattoo we're back with another addition to our NATO flypasts! The French Air Force will be providing a KC-135R tanker to the already announced line up.
The French Navy also confirms an Embraer Emb-121 Xingu on static display.
It's another nice update today more added to the static always good to see especially the KC-135R tanker, Bit surprised nothing from Japan but still a week to go so maybe a late announcement?

I couldn't remember how many there were involved...
If you want to be picky mate, I could have been referring to Friday and Saturday, so more than one take off
But i know what you mean

As excited as I am to see the flypast, I have to admit that I was hoping for more NATO nations to participate. Happy to see a tornado roaring down the runway though

Not long now gang..... time to prime all devices.. and prepare for the entertainment...
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
And still not a static F35 even though there will still be 12 HL's at Spang....strange.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
Why's it strange? Perhaps they were asked and they turned down the invitation, perhaps DBH are still in talks with them or, and I'm just putting this out there, perhaps we should just wait and see and, if they don't turn up, just accept that!
Cheers

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2019 Discussion Thread
I'm assuming as there's 16 Rafale M/B/C and 9 Mirage in the Bastille day flypast, their availability is pretty limited for the weekend. A shame though as both displays are always in my top 4 over RIAT!Red-Eye-Knight wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2019 5:06 pmSeems not this year, No mention of them in flypast either.

And also, maybe the fact that they are on an active deployment they can't afford to send jets to an airshow - Nothing strange there at all.

Weather is looking poor, then again there is a week to go & the forecasters rarely get the next days weather right let alone a week in advance !!
