I had a great tour around the base in the late 70s when I went for a job interview in there big hangars on the far side of the airfield where there containers from the states arrive had to drive to them giving way to the F-111s great 4hours flight-line side
And I got the job.

Hi all

Nothing has changed, tour is still going ahead as far as I know, below is what I last recived from them and I was told we won’t hear anything until about 6 weeks prior when we will have to send in copies of identification, as soon as I have any more information I will post on here, But I have sent everyone private messages confirming their place, once I receive the final paper work I will send out my mobile number so I’m easier to get in touch with.

Hope you are all well

Michael

“Absolutely, I will book you in. Please keep an eye out for correspondences concerning your visit next year. Anticipate to receive documentation to complete for security purposes approximately 6 weeks to your tour date. You will also receive all information to ensure a smooth tour along with those documents.

A1C Williams-Jones“

How do you get onto a base tour group? I'd love to go.

You needed to apply about a year ago.

I mean in general, not this tour. I know it takes a long time.

OK, I think this question was asked before in this thread, somewhere.

Not a peep - I did (like all of us no doubt!) send a PM the other day but no response as of yet....

Myself like many others are having doubts that this base tour on the 02/08/2019 will go ahead. I believe that messages and emails have been sent to Michael by others and myself, but unfortunately no replies received. Personally I think this is bad practice as Michael must be receiving these or at least the notifications. It seems he chooses to ignore these for whatever reason. Many of us have waited patiently and have been looking forward to this for twelve months and to now find out the tour organiser has gone awol. I hope to be proven wrong and that by some bizarre miracle we hear something from this mysterious guy

He's not gone AWOL as he's had plenty to say in the RIAT section recently.

So where has the 6 week notification gone for personal ID’s etc? Why has he not replied to messages or emails?

It's only himself that can answer that.

So your comment regards him posting on RIAT has got no significance to this base tour and was totally pointless ?

Oh dear!
I'm saying that he hasn't disappeared from FC completely and has been active in, at least, one other section in the last few days. So he will be receiving PMs (unless his inbox is full) and he should also be receiving email notifications to say that he has a new PM (providing he doesn't have multiple email addresses and can access the email inbox that he used for registering with FC).
No need for the "attitude", chap.

I feel a bit sorry for the guy to be honest. If you've ever tried liaising with up to 40 individuals over something like this with all the emails and stuff involved, it isn't an easy job.

He's not paid to do it. He doesn't owe any of you anything. He's doing it out of the kindness of his heart.

Sure, something might have happened that is stopping him doing it - but I have a sneaking feeling that the attitude of some on here is probably somewhat de-motivating.

I have been trying to contact him with no success. I`ve booked time off work and also booked a cottage for a week because of my 300 mile journey. A reply to a PM either way would be courteous to say the least.

The 27th of February was the last time he posted in this thread and it's about time that he contacted people - or put them out of their misery for good.
