Internal Server Error 20-06-19

Post by big john » Thu Jun 20, 2019 4:41 pm

One for the Technical bods.
Possible problem building? when posting I had a brief notice of an Internal server error. Posting is also slow compared to normal.

Adam Caught the error this time at 11:10L and again 11:17L
Internal Server Error 500
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Web Server at fightercontrol.co.uk

The new topic was sent and showed ok in the forum when the forum was opened in a new tab, but the above error showed in the original tab.
No error comes back when posting to an existing topic the new topic appeared at the normal speed but when it tried to show me my post in the original tab thats when the error occurred, Its obviously the cause of the multple postings because if you hit submit again it shows correctly.
hth
Edit:- I have tested a few more sections and it only happens in the Heads up section!

Currently (12:45 GMT) the Heads-Up (both UK and non UK) are at the bottom of the main page under "FORUM". I'm guessing and hoping that this is work in progress?

Right, all sections should be back in their rightful places now. Trying to fix the internal server error turned up a different issue that has taken 2 hours of messing around to fix :grr:

I'm not sure if anything i've fixed so far has improved the situation (my testing suggests not at this time) and i *think* the issue is confined to only the UK and Non-UK heads up areas at this time. Unfortunately i now have to get back on with the day job and now away until Sunday so won't be able to look at properly until then.

As the issue doesn't seem to appear on other sections, i'll look at creating some new heads up sections for now and lock the others so at least posting can continue unaffected. I'll try and move any current threads across as well. Not perfect, but might at least remove the duplicate posts and frustration!

I just had the 'hang' happen when posting a reply in the Fairford section on this thread, here: https://www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/ ... 5#p1100115 eventually giving the error "504 Gateway Time-out nginx"

The rest of the forum ran smooth as silk during this time, but I guess its not just confined to the Heads Up section. Odd one!

It's terrible. It's like the site is hosted at the other side of the world. Pretty much 20-30 seconds every time before pages load or posts will send, often instead giving Internal Server Error. Owner needs to bin his host and use someone decent.

And yet I've had no problems at all apart from an occasional hang when posting and even that's not been that often
