Weds 19/6/19 cont/d

Dev typh up @ 1543L "WTN10". Heard operating a "towline" pattern just off coast/edge of Fylde coast; recovered into Warton overhead (1704L) & descended to join high downwind; t/g 1707L & landed 1710L. Possibly ZK303/AX (BT017) not on mode-S but looked like a twin-seat from limited views I had of it from home.

(C-47A/DC-3C N47E "Miss Virginia" wearing original USAAF mks 0-30655, routed from Salzburg to Prestwick but too far north & east for me to spot - Not even a glint off its highly polished "Ally" fuselage :-) At 8000ft similar route over Settle area & Nth Lakes etc. Dep SZG 1218BST and was descending over Dunfries area at 1831L!)

"WTN10" heard on climbout 1549L (talking to Boffin so development jet). Predictably not showing on Mode-S (this jet appears adsb shy!);

"WTN69" launched in ZK303/AX(BT017) @ 1601L (seen on climbout 25). Landed 1741L (ILS 25 + fullstop).

Thanks for the logs, the 658 squadron callsign is probably "Titan". :thumb:

Yes thanks Mike I realised later that was what is very likely was. They use "Titan" & "Lord" if not an Army Air callsign? The one today had 3 pob and the last approach was at a pretty steep angle, maybe an autorotation?

Confirmed heard G-BWSG/XW324 (JP T.5/Private) as "WTN 14" Today viewed from BL.

Looking back through posts John Hurrell is a likely candidate for the JP. (Former Warton's Chief Instructor on Hawk?)

Back down to NL for "WTN 10" t/g before early breaking over my head (reminds me of NM) with 26 degrees and blue skies!!! Superb!!!

I can confirm it was T.14 in G-BWSG/XW324 - I believe JP T.5 is in for annual servicing, this particular T.5 is due to appear at RIAT in 3 weeks time.

"Tarnish14" was JH when he was flying the loaned Hawk T1/A's (loaned from Valley mostly, sometimes Leeming); he and Jon Price (JAP) trained pilots earmarked to then train saudi pilots under BAES contract. JAP & JH used the callsigns in range "Tarnish 12-15" and "Lightning" for 2-ships and occasional 3-ships. I don't believe he was ever a Chief Instructor...he would be flattered by that I would imagine!

JP T5 G-BWSG/XW324 up 1133-1215L

SAT 29/06/19

Must be an urgent flight test schedule to complete with tight deadlines (as usual)...and
O/T to boot...

"WTN69" up in ZJ700 (IPA5) @ 1325L off 07.
Seen later off Lytham @ 1445L on App 07 plus heard overshoot(?). Heard manoeuvring over airfield for 2-3 mins and landed rwy 25 @ 1450L.

Typical Warton...

Just to add to the John Hurrell thread. John flew for Hunter Flying club at Exeter for many years and he was one of the best pilots we had down there. Oh happy times.
