For the sake of the world one can hope it’s only 2 years max.

I’m not sure why you also tie this in with leaving the EU, if we do (and I hope not).

I heard there’s a picture of an F35 circulating with Boss markings on the tail for one of the LN units. Don’t know how true or if it is a photoshop effort.

I was at Luke tuesday talking to a Lt that is going to Hill is Sept. said there was no other place to go right now as Its to early to go to Eileson. So my guess is LN is futher down the road. But I could be wrong

Given that it’s always officially been stated that the squadrons are due to start standing up late 2021 then you wouldn’t be going to LN 2 years earlier really would you?!

They only started the work ready for building of F-35infrastructure within the last month or so. And look how long its been on going at Marham for our jets

True - but the Americans do build quickly when they want too. But hey I love the F15C so I‘m happy having classics for a few years more.

Being involved in my local plan for the next 15 year house building cycle I would expect the building target for Fairford's District Council to be significantly/specifically increased if the majority of the 2,00 (plus families)j are to live off base. That might locally be a political "hot potato". I recently heard that a significant amount of accommodation is to be built on base; that could speed up the provision of accommodation and avoid aggravating the local housing market. One airfield RIAT is apparently considering moving to is as unlikely as returning to North Weald. All the above rumors come with a severe health warning.
Meanwhile, and more importantly, I do wonder about U-2 fleet health. Have a nice Bank Holday.

All the building work at Lakenheath is/will be by UK contractors. It was even a news story on the MoD website

Having spoken to numerous RIAT people ,they are expecting to remain at Fairford.

I have heard, though not sure of its validity, that Marshalls are moving over a 10 year period to one of two existing airfields other than Mildenhall. One has a "modern" spec military runway though mothballed, the other requires a new longer runway. I am not saying which because it's a "dodgy" rumor. So Possibly Mildenhall is either staying USAF or going for housing eventually. Perhaps Marshalls could no longer wait to make a fortune developing Cambridge. At this rate the USAF might forget to shut Mildenhall.

Hardly a rumour, it's been quite widely reported in the press that Wyton, Duxford and Cranfield are the choices being looked at

Wyton (airfield) is closed and being developed for housing so that's off the list

Wyton is certainly on the shortlist for Marshalls. The link below is one of many news reports naming the base.

Which isn't, and certainly wouldn't be a potential relocation destination.

I think Agent K is talking about Scampton being a potential destination for Marshalls.
