Did I miss something?
Was there an engine fire? I saw this bird fly over my home in the Netherlands in the morning, together with a second one.

Great set of photos covering the minutes after the safe landing :thumb:

I bet this arrival livened things up along the perimeter roads last night......................

Great shots Dave, certainly something you don't see every day! Different as well so well caught. :)

Zonan, yes, diverted after declaring an IFE when over the UK - 1 engine shut down due to overheating followed by a second as a result of an engine fire.

Thanks for posting the Pics - those of us that do not live nearby rely on people like Dave.
Presumably has now been towed from the runway. Where will the spare engine come from - I assume there are spares at Minot and Barksdale and who will fit - a specialist crew flown in?

Posting the photos on FC is the least I could do. I wouldn't have got them if it wasn't for Fighter Control, and it's members, there are some great guys on here !!

Excellent picture report Dave  Some of the r/t was broken from my distance but I soon realised it was going a bit 'pearshaped'. I certainly concur on the availability of the towbar - in Mildenhall's historical status as a major hub with long runway to accommodate larger aircraft in the USAF fleet then when 'Global Power' is in action they should be able to fully support those crews in an emergency situation - I guess they had already been in the air for probably 18 hours, so a big salute to them and so pleased they are safe.
Thanks for being around and posting

Nice coverage Dave with some great photos

As Keith has said lets all be pleased that the crew are down safe, all is good and a big salute - think there are too many 'what ifs' / 'why nots' over on the other section insinuating the USAF did not know what they were doing. Handled well for an unexpected issue and all are safe

Thanks again Dave - very good

One thing I can say is the fire crews were all over it in seconds....I'm extremely impressed with their professionalism. Hats off to them.
Dave.
