daks over normandy
Re: daks over normandy
there coming back throo pwk maybe jot them all
Re: daks over normandy
Thanks for that HM, just seems a bit odd as routing through Prestwick is a shorter distance for them - I suppose that's the reason why Prestwick was built in the first place!honest man wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2019 5:18 pmFrom what I heard they were flying independent of the main D day squadron so probably negotiated their own airport deals, how true I've no idea
This season, I'll be mostly wearing........A THONG!

Re: daks over normandy
N18121 Diverted from PIK to INV due weather at PIK low cloud, drizzle, 3,000m
Re: daks over normandy
The weather has been awful the last few days in the area, crap visibility and low cloud base. Not good for a dak at low level! I believe after INV and WIC they went east over to Aberdeen and then turned south.
The majority that came through PIK have left equipment meaning they will have to come back to collect it so more than likely most of them will come through west bound.
Re: daks over normandy
Hello I'm new here and hope someone knows more than I can tell from the official website.
I've booked to go on the Wednesday but could go another day. Does anyone know how many aircraft will fly on the Tuesday and what the mass parachute jumpers will jump from (ie will they jump from Daks or something else)?
It looks like only groups of 4 Daks together but will there be several 4 aircraft formations or just one.

N341A Dak out of Inverness southbound near Perth at 1109L presumably for Duxford.
At 1120 it is east looking to coast out Carnoustie then head south.

Re: daks over normandy
all
a reasonable day for flying today and there was some although not as much and with as many as I would have hoped for. Not such a good day for jumping, they announced that there was a 10 knot wind limit for round canopy jumping and the winds did not get below 12-15 knots so sadly there was no jumping.

Re: daks over normandy
Weather forecast is looking better for tomorrow, although winds still around 10kts.
Looking forward to a nice day out.
