Trump Visit

Post by JASTREB » Tue May 07, 2019 1:39 pm

Is there any information yet of possible arrival sites for Air Force One, also any info on the heavy metal entourage that will accompany him?

Presume AF1 to Stansted , support into M/hall, as before.

MV-22 & VH-60 were based at Northolt last visit, but currently closed for runways works , so who knows this time suspect Mildenhall

There was mention somewhere that he is not bringing choppers this time? But I can't remember where I saw that.

The Cambridgeshire News, the epitome of newspapers, is saying the President might be giving a speech to the military at Lakenheath rather than fat cats and politicians at Westminster?

Thanks for the replies. It looks as if its the same as before. Heavies into the Hall and Stansted for the Presidential ship. What about the E-4 of the 1 ACCS.

Can't see 'the beast' driving down the M3 to Portsmouth!! The choppers would be the best bet for that journey. AF1 might go to BZZ so that he can get to France a bit quicker after the events in Portsmouth

But they normally arrive there in a C17 and the Mv22s last time had KC130J support. So that might mean they go somewhere else.

With POTUS going to Portsmouth, will there be a carrier in Stokes Bay.

Would make more sense to fly to France in Marine1.

Would Evreux be the closest airfield capable of handling a B747 to the Normandy beaches?

The USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group that has been on exercise in the Med has been sent to the middle east. To wave the "Big Stick" at Iran.

As Typeflyer says,Northolt is not closed to rotary traffic during runway rebuild and has the whole of the southern ramp currently available!.....Also possible that Farnborough could be used as base for the rotary element, although security there may not be up to the Americans desires!. With Trump not able to stay at Buckingham Palace, due renovations there,I would assume that he will reside at the US Ambassadors residence,so Regents Park will be the obvious location for the rotarys in London.

Indeed, just because the C-17 cannot arrive does not preclude its use. Winfield House is just down the A40.

John C Stennis passed through the Gibralter Straits into the Atlantic a few days ago but it is not yet known if it will be visiting Portsmouth.

Yep VH-60N were at Northolt while the Mv-22B (self deployed across the Atlantic on Saturday via Azores) and VH-3D (came in C-17A on the Sunday) came to the Hall fist of all.. and did the practice rehearsal flight into the city with NPAS London pair of Airbus Helicopters H145. I was there on that Tuesday when they did their mass departure two days before Obama arrived. The VH-3D pair came back and think the MV-22B later or did they stay at Northolt.

The MV-22B did come back from the Hall and left the Astor Sunday after the visit?

Cheers

Was thinking this, maybe deliver HMX-1 to FAB then re-position to NHT. Only issue would be the USMC personnel who last year arrived at Northolt via C-130J. Or could play it safe and base everything out of Mildenhall just as they did in the 2016 Obama visit.

Neil

All will become clearer when his visit itinerary is published. Bear in mind that some politicians are bad mouthing Trump's visit: apparently Speaker Bercow has refused to let him address Parliament. However, Trump was democrat(ically) elected by the American people and they, their decision and their President should be respected. He might even be re-elected; so good relations with him are important to this country, just one amongst a large number of other equally unimportant ones. So Trump likes golf/owning golf courses, photo opportunities for the folk back home and meeting/praising US servicemen. This visit might be surprisingly different from Obama's State Visit.

Well said Filmman. He could also decide to close USAF bases in the UK if he takes a dislike to us and FC-ers would definitely not like that!
