Coronet Eclipse A-7s at Leuchars 32 years ago today.

Post by Mike » Sat May 04, 2019 4:08 pm

On Friday 02/05/87 11 x A-7Ds and an A-7K from the 127 TFW/107 TFS of the Michigan ANG from Selfridge ANGB diverted into Leuchars on their way to Gioia Del Colle in Italy, they were accompanied by the 8 TDCS Command Post EC-135K 59-1518.

Serials were :- A-7Ds 70-0989 70-1025 70-1027 71-0308 71-0323 72-0188 72-0205 72-0214 72-0229 74-1737 74-1752 & A-7K 80-0291

Took a trip down to see them just before they carried-on to Italy on Star Wars day (May the fourth  ), here's some photos taken from both inside and outside the fence - apologies for the quality.
Many thanks to a very good life-long friend for the heads-up, you know who you are. ;)

Great stuff Mike, who cares about quality with a subject like that, some of the best days ever.
Cheers.

Excellent Mike - quality is no issue with a post like this

Can remember the boss A-7 being at the Air Fete that year (only processed a shot of it this week) - extremely nice looking plane with that pod

Cheers for posting and keep them coming

Darren

Thanks for the comments chaps, that's correct Darren - A-7D 71-0308 was the boss's bird and it was accompanied to the Air Fete by A-7K 80-0291.
Happy days indeed. :thumb:

Such a shame this hobby is now more or less dead on it’s feet. Remember all the various deployments/ diverts into Kinlossie back in the 80’s and early 90’s, unfortunately I was too young to venture any further.

Nowadays everything goes via Lakenheath, you guys down there don’t know how lucky you are.

Thanks for posting Mike :thumb:

More Corsairs Mike? You're making me feel old now. Recalling the Ohio ANG at Sculthorpe (my local then) back in 1983, '86 and '89 amongst a few others. Great days for deployments then although I didn't see these - bit too far north!

Great aeroplanes but possibly the worst colour scheme for photographers.
