I am sure all of you guys can appreciate how excited I was to be attending the show... we had a fantastic time and the following is a log of what we saw at the show on Sunday the 3rd of March.

Well that was everything we saw on the day... i hope you found the log interesting and helpful, especially for anyone from the FC family that was as lucky as me to be present.

A long shot I know... but if anyone can fill in any of the gaps (ie)... the two KIOWA`S that managed to get away... that would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks again to my very close friends for a day that I enjoyed very much and will always remember... I know you guys do take a look on FC from time to time so many thanks for taking me and for the help in putting the log together.... and for putting up with me and the good lady wife for two weeks :thumb:

Best rgds

Tim

That is a great list Tim, and much appreciated, as I was also there on the Sunday. I am still working through my photos and compiling a log so you have saved me some time! I was out in Australia (my first visit) for a family wedding end Feb/Mar, and the timing was perfect that it meant I could attend the show. I really enjoyed it, and it was great to see the selection of the RAAF assets, few of which we would get a chance to see here in the UK, as well as a few rare warbirds. The Hornet 4 ship display was nice as was the unusual 4 ship of F35, F22 and 2x F18. Equally, the likes of RIAT could learn a lot from Avalon on how to put on a role demo! I'm afraid I missed the Kiowas on tow so cannot help with those unfortunately.

I also had the opportunity to visit the RAAF museum at Point Cook whilst out there. A nice collection and we were there on a day when they displayed a Winjeel. Really friendly a knowledgeable staff also.

Many thanks again for taking the time to publish your log.

Matthew

Hi Mathew

Your very welcome... glad it helped you.

Yes my first visit also to Australia and what a show... I agree the F18 four ship was superb especially their take offs... fantastic set piece of the F18s, F22 and F35... and funny you say that about RIAT... it's exactly what I said to my freinds.

I also did Point Cook... and three other museums which are in the area... I will post logs of these shortly.

If you need any help with my log as to which were the flyers and which were statice... please just ask.

Happy to help.

Thanks again for your kind comments.

Hi Tim,

I hope this helps:

National Vietnam Veterans Museum had there all over dark green exhibit A17-007 on display outside their tent.
Alongside this was a single frame A17-003
A single frame was also in the exhibition hall (Hall 3) closest to the runway side A17-026
On the base, a group of six were displayed along with PC-9/A A23-004 on its wheels while A23-059 was on a jig with wings off.

The six were:

A17-011
A17-015
A17-016
A17-028
A17-046
A17-047

There was also another thirteen Kiowas in a compound outside the northern most hangar.

Regards
John

Hi John

Many thanks indeed for the info... very much appreciated.

So I have one typo... my fault... got it down as A17-017 and should be 047 log now amended... did not see 026 in the exhibition hall sadly... which leaves me with the two I saw being towed and it looks like I missed one more.

Another 13 in a compound wow... I flew from Avalon the next day up to Sydney and took a few ariel shots of the airport as we departed overhead. I will take a look to see if they show anything.

Many thanks again for your help :thumb:

Regards

Tim

Hi John

Sadly my ariel photos stop short of the last hangar would you believe it :(... but I have noticed something from my photo`s of the two Kiowa`s that were seen being towed away... they both had a red and white square ticket in the window that stated LOT 4 and LOT 7... would you be able to tell me from these LOT numbers what the serials are? or is there a way of searching for them.

Any help would be very much appreciated :thumb:

Hi Tim,

Yes I can help, they were:

A17-011 Lot 5
A17-015 Lot 2
A17-016 Lot 6
A17-028 Lot 4
A17-046 Lot 7
A17-047 Lot 3

One update to your list is the MQ-4C A57-001 was actually a mock up, none of the Australian order has yet been delivered.

Thanks for posting this log Tim. I went four years ago, great show. I wanted to go this year but couldn't make the dates work, maybe in 2021!

Hi david14

I would try your best for 2021...its their 100 year anniversary... so would think it will be quite a show.

Glad you liked the log. :thumb:

Came back from Australia via LIMA in Langkawi and just starting on logs.22 Kiowa's were up for auction along with 5 PC7's...I to missed the Kiowa in the hall but saw the rest at the show and the compound. That makes a total of 21 out of 22!
I have a full list of the auction serials but not a lot of use if 1 was missing somewhere else!

Great log

I have also been reading some really interesting daily logs of a recent Australia bash including Avalon posted on touchdown. Apparently it was a bit hot! So to hear there might be a big show in 2021 has inspired me to look that the piggy bank.

Thanks

Hi slogen51

Glad you liked the log .... yes it was very hot indeed and a tad dusty... lots if water consumed on the day.

2021 is their centenary show so I would expect it to be quite good... would love to be back there for it.

Regards.
