Mark i completely agree with everything you have said, and thats all i was trying to say, the tattoo is meant to be the biggest military air show in the world where you see all the unique stuff you wouldn't normally see at an air show, so by putting up 5 f16's for displays gets a bit same old, i love they have the MIG 21, the harrier, fantastic, be great to have more of the unique kinda stuff.

and as for the prop teams, they are boring, you can clearly see it on the crowds faces, the blades team are 100% a seaside airshow, they go on far too long, i will actually say id rather see another F16 than the blades or anything like that haha! Only prop display team worthy of being at RIAT should be the BBMF which is class!
Absolutely spot on my friend. In all fairness I am already thinking that I'll be finding something else to photograph in the next few years (my gig work is starting to pick up.) as most of the good stuff is in museums now. I do enjoy the 5th generation airframes, but who needs a full day of the same aircraft being displayed by multiple nations??

I'm no warbird photographer (shaky hands unfortunately) so to me the airshow scene in the UK is slowly dying off after the Shoreham incident (if not before!!). Riat is the last bastion of adrenalin and that's starting to get stale too..

Also social media means its nigh on impossible to get any unique or different photo's now as every man and their dog know whats happening. At least I had a good run from 2005 to 2010 before social media ruined the world.

I have never seen the Brietling Jet team before, so after RIAT I will have seen them display 4 times (2 days at Duxford too)

I had never seen an F16 display until 2017. I don't understand the complaints, everyone of the F16 displays since has been amazing. (Solo Turk, Belgium, USAF Thunderbirds) So hoping to see Solo Turk, Belgium and hopefully Greek F16 displays :)

People want Jets, and as said it is the primary fighter of many nations. Complain at the Props.. Complain at the Jets. People are just never happy no matter what the announcement.

Completely agree there, Jason.

Agree though that the UK airshows are slowly dying off.

I could be wrong so please don't shoot me but I've heard from an uofficial source that Zeus will not be at RIAT this year, however the Hellenic AF are hopeful of being in attendence.

yeah they are dying off, its such a shame, i absolutely love jets, its my passion in life, and for years RIAT was the place to go, to see the rare stuff, that's all im saying, its dying off and its such a shame, i know multirole is a big factor, but there are more aircraft out there!

Jason, okay you had never seen a f16,,,really pleased you see one,,,ive never seen a Mig 21 before,,,cant wait to see it, but if the organizers said to me hey,,,want see five mig 21's or do you want to see one mig 21, a mig 29, a phantom, a Japanese f15 a A10? i would choose one of each wouldn't i! I got to see the aircraft, i don't care what country is flying it!!! a fast past by a Belgium f16 and a dutch f16 would be exactly the same wouldn't it really?

Isn't that the support aircraft for the Royal Jordanian Falcons?

They don’t have a support aircraft as the aircraft are kept in Europe for 4 or 5 months.
They use a large white van.

The Falcons normally arrive at Yeovilton, which I believe is their first European display inside two of their Hercules transport planes, part assembled.

Now it's starting to get fun :D

Saw the Frecce Tricolori twice in Ireland in 2016. Saturday they did their lower cloud display, Sunday they went all out. Cracking stuff. I was hoping they'd be back :D

Were absolutely brilliant last year and in my opinion I prefer them to the Reds. Looking to be a very good show so far :thumb:

Personally I think they are the number one aerobatic team. Especially with the music !

The Reds should use music as the general public don't want to hear shouting they don't understand.
