Swiss F5E/F new home?
It appears that the US DOD draft budget has a purchase for 22 F5E/F Ex Swiss AF for the sum of €39.676, quite a bargain, they appear destined for the USMC.

2019/20 procurement programme, I believe.
Begs the question, what happens to the Patrouille Suisse?

The original 110 Tigers was reduced to 54.(around 2000). Now there is a new reduction to around 30 . So the 22 are presumably the deduction between 54 and 30. It was said the Patr.Suisse would continue for some years.
The remaining Tigers and Hornets will be replaced by one new fighter type. The flying evaluation is this spring.
Will the 22 Tigers be used by the USMC as new agressors or for spares?
Pieter
P.s. exact numbers 26 remain in service. 27 wfu. 4 went or go to museums and so 22 to USA. 1 might be around for some other purpose.

It would seem that is the thinking behind it.Canberra TT.18 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:06 amThe original 110 Tigers was reduced to 54.(around 2000). Now there is a new reduction to around 30 . I suppose that answers why we never received a reply from Switzerland!!
Re: Swiss F5E/F new home?
27 were offered to USA, so 22 must be the number selected. 26 remain until end of service (27+26 = 53 were in service in 2017 according to the Swiss government) so 1 to end up in someone's garden / 4 for a museum?Canberra TT.18 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:06 amThe original 110 Tigers was reduced to 54.(around 2000).
