C17s to Fairford
Re: C17s to Fairford
This one's a warning to Putin so I've heard from involved personnel. Aren't they all though I suppose, although still get the feeling this one is something bigger than usual, but is it a different type of deployment? Only time will tell...
Re: C17s to Fairford
Late 80's we had regular deployments to Fairford of 7 B52's, I think about 2 per year, before that we had deployments of 3 to Upper Heyford ( at least 3 that I can remember) Brize had 3 at a time around 2 per year and then Fairford with 3 which increased to 7 in later years.

I'm a newbie and I don't have access to viewtopic.php?f=405&t=173508. Can anyone tell me how to access it please?
I see from https://ffdmovements.blogspot.com/ that 1 B52 has arrived today. Are others due in today?
I see that johnwayne posted "6 pans chocked here (or is it chocced) .Reception party just at one." Sorry for my lack of cred but what's a pan?

You need 5 posts or more on the forum before you can access that section.alarm1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 11:35 amI'm a newbie and I don't have access to viewtopic.php?f=405&t=173508. Can anyone tell me how to access it please?

Re: C17s to Fairford
Nitro - pan is shorthand for bomber dispersal pan or parking spot of wbich there are 30+ here at Fairford.
Re: C17s to Fairford
Hi everyone, new here just like you Nitro. Maybe we can have a chat and get up to the 5 posts! Will you be going to Fairford for a look?
Re: C17s to Fairford
Ah sorry, I misread that. Alarm1 is the fellow newbie. Can anyone tell me which London Mil frequencies the B-52 that arrived this morning used before handing over to Brize?
Re: C17s to Fairford
Thanks johnwayne for the explanation of pan. Are they on the South side of the runway or spread out?

Re: C17s to Fairford
Thanks Mike! I'm just getting back into this hobby. The last frequency guide I had was Airwaves 98, which probably isn't much good these days
Re: C17s to Fairford
Is there any software/apps that folks use to monitor military air activity?
Re: C17s to Fairford
Stray 81 on Brize radar 264.775 now.
Re: C17s to Fairford
Glad you're picking them up ok ADSB Exchange is a free to use radar tracking site which you can set to show only military aircraft under the filter section of the menus, it's fairly good but can be unreliable. 360 radar is a paid version which is quite a lot better. One of these two B-52s inbound now is plotting, although it is rare to see.
Re: C17s to Fairford
Stray81 was calling 60-0061 from the box throughout the mission. It turned out they were a duo, 60-0024 (Stray81) and 60-0025 (Stray82). I guess only one of the a/c 'pinged'.
They disappeared from ADSB just before entering Dutch airspace from Northern Germany. They might have dropped some boms on Vliehors Range, but need confirmation on that.
Re: C17s to Fairford
They stayed at FL270 on their trip, nothing would have been dropped.
Re: C17s to Fairford
What a mess this thread has become, the last 2 pages have nothing to do with C17s.
Come on Sam, get it sorted!
