John's Field Monday Closure times

Post by john@runway11 » Mon Feb 25, 2019 11:59 pm

Monday Night, I had to get closed up at around 1745 is as I had to be at the Army Reserve Center. One person was up in the viewing area and I went up and asked him to leave as I needed to be away. There were 2 spotters parked near the toilet block, talking pictures near the 5 MPH Sign and the big pay now board. I asked them polity to leave as I need to be away. One of the moved, the driver stood in the track photographing away still, I papped my horn asking him please you need to go. What happened next is incredible, the guy snapped and aggressively shouted at me, keeping my cool, I said to him are you threatening me? His aggressive response to me about, "I don't dare sound my horn at him" I reminded him again about his threatening stance. He departed at break neck speed spinning his wheels and driving down the lane.

This is my Home I am very approachable and try and accommodate peoples needs and to the most people I encounter are good people.
This man had no respect what so ever for myself and especially wearing the Queens uniform and the regiment I represent.

In future until further notice the site will close on Monday's at 1730 Hrs.
Kind Regards

John T

I hope he knackered his wishbones driving over the sleeping policeman like that. Truly appalling behaviour.

Very sorry to hear that he treated you like that, John.

Probably one of those who spoilt the Stansted agreement not to stray from the viewing area.

Unbelievable and totally unacceptable behaviour, not only being rude but being aggressive.

Hi john

Your land your rules, the guy was a total idiot.

I always wave at the spotters from the other side of the fence.

We call it spy corner just for a laugh.

All aircrews do appreciate the spotters being there.

Our hobby is difficult enough with security and viewing area’s disappearing for Military and civil yet some people want to spoil it even more. John I’ve never used your facilities but I would respect your property and say thank you for allowing real enthusiasts to use your facilities. It’s the same old ruling being spoilt by a few. Over the years have seen it loads of times a few examples on the Civil side I used to visit Coventry and Oxford on a regular basis back in the 80’s speak to either security or ATC to gain access both stopped after a Father and his Kids were found sitting in aircraft and Oxford found Teenagers swinging on the Props. Also t here is a You Tube video of Spotters gobing off at Security and Police at EMA. One word Respect and courtesy and John can I say sorry from us real spotters.

Ive recently seen that video, and in fairness they are not enthusiasts, they are among a growing band of so called photographers, that are intent on pushing how far they can get away with filming in public areas. There seems to be alot of them about, the only result is going to be a change in the laws about what and where you can photograph from.

They just seemed to go there with the sole intent of being obnoxious and antagonising everyone as much as they could.
