PSA a belated log of aircraft present on the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum on 31 May 18. Again, this is an excellent museum with a varied collection of historic and interesting aircraft including the Space Shuttle which was a first for me.

Although your visit may have been enjoyable you will find that the Enterprise was only a non-flying version if the shuttle.It was only named as such to favour "trekkies"

Although it is true that Enterprise did not go into space, it was used for glide testing by some of the first shuttle crews so technically *did* fly :-)

Yes, you're right. it was there at one time. When the museum got the Space Shuttle Enterprise in 2012, they removed three aircraft to make room. The Scimitar, Skyknight and MiG-15 were sent up river to the Empire State Aerosciences Museum.

All - Many thanks for the follow up thoughts and background information for which I was unsighted. The visit to Intrepid was well worthwhile and deserved more time than I had on the day as we returned to the UK that afternoon.
