Re: Exercise Point Blank at Lakenheath
Somebody said a Rafale backtracked on its way to the media event. In spite of being sat at the forest entrance, I didn’t see it.

Any updates for tomorrow yet? Anybody know if the HL 35S tomorrow?
Re: Exercise Point Blank at Lakenheath
I'd say no HL 35's tomorrow, Gulf, as no ALTRV in place as of this time!

Thank you guess not the weather looks terrible the next few days for any crossing going on previous deployments they wanted better sea state in case of any problems.
Not sure if that is still relevant the weather in the US is a mess in places as well currently.

Taken from AFM on Facebook:
Once the exercise proper kicks off tomorrow, it’s expected to involve 40+ fourth- and fifth-generation aircraft including 16 F-15Es, four RAF Typhoons, four Rafales and a pair of F-35Bs from Marham.
Not seen it quoted elsewhere.

Re: Exercise Point Blank at Lakenheath
A slot on Anglia TV this evening had a video statement from a Colonel at Lakenheath stating around 250 aircraft, yes 250, would be taking part in the exercise. Seems a huge amount to me, even allowing for all the various other platforms. Personally I would have thought up to 100 was pushing it.

Re: Exercise Point Blank at Lakenheath
The press releases are saying USAF F-15E will work with French Rafales and two RAF F-35B against 'threats' in the training environment over the north sea. ( Would have thought 493FS eagles would have come in handy)
I wonder who the 'Red' threat teams are? Typhoons?

Personally not a clue but would think a very early start, probably before sunrise. Guess the tankers, reconnaissance and all other electronic aircraft from Mildenhall could be ramping up around 5am. Be there, in position before first light. Good luck and heads up thanks to those that monitor and post the airwaves from site or nearby.

Sounds like it is just a one day exercise - and I will miss it because I have a British Gas heating engineer coming around first thing in the morning - so that usually means he or she turns up at 11:59
