Legacy of Liberty - Lakenheath July 1986

Post by Knife 04 » Sun Oct 14, 2018 1:42 pm

Afternoon Ladies and Gents

I originally posted some of these about 3 and a half years ago but have scanned the negs now so 're-mastered' as it were

Great show hosted by the US guys and gals approximately 3 months after Eldorado Canyon - some of the '111s had yet to have the campaign ribbon applied to the tail.

The Saturday was very wet so much so that the flying was curtailed by midday. The Sunday was much better with the sun coming out in the afternoon

Great that brilliant collections of those brilliant days are still about for us all to enjoy, and particularly for those who weren't around then.

Many, many thanks for these. Reminds me of that very intense and long night for us all, back in '86 ( Eldorado Canyon )

Wow those Lakenheath Varks always looked immaculate. They always seemed to be kept that bit more pristine that the Heyford jets with the coloured squadron badges and in the late 80s/early 90s, the coloured bars on the nose gear doors depending on which squadron the jet belonged to. Amazing scans.

Good Jawb Darren. 1st. class scans. Well worth the time and effort. The F-4C and Thud look freshly painted and certainly more photogenic than when I saw them a couple of years later.

Of course James after all the help people on here have given me it is the least I can do - I am extremely grateful to Ian, Andy, Phil etc for the advice. I will put together my 'workflow' (pretty basic as only using Photoshop Elements 9) and post on in the next couple of days

All the very best

Darren

Great set. Amazing that almost all of the shots are of aircraft that were based in the UK.
