I'm sure potential enemies are quaking in their flying boots!

I'm so bitterly disappointed with the "big reveal" - I was expecting some sort of Iranian copy of BAe's Tempest.

It's not even their best modification of the F-5, that must surely be the "Armita" - a modified RF-5A:-

Imagine- a reconnaissance aircraft able to perform low, medium and high-altitude photo-recce, all while carrying another pilot, co-pilot, navigator, flight engineer, 5 x cabin crew and up to 152 passengers (and their luggage)

I'll get my coat.....

What they showed on Forces TV in primer taxying looked like a large CASA 101 hardly earth shattering,

Looks like they've gone back to square one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hI5lFaB7Tcs

The one in the OP post has a single vertical stabiliser, whilst the one in the latest clearly has a V shaped tail empennage.

Looks remarkably like a F5 to me?

That isn't their new aircraft but an aircraft associated with the testing of the new Kowsar.

This is the Kowsar. Clearly based on the Taiwanese ADIC AT-3.

By 'based on', I guess you mean that they've closely copied the configuration...?

If you look at the detail, there's not a single part of it that is actually the same, so it certainly isn't a 'Chinese' ( :P ) copy....

I thought that was "clearly" obvious in my post. :P
