Lakenheath base tour

Post by hernaman86 » Tue Aug 14, 2018 3:19 pm

Hi

I understand Lakenheath do base tours to the public, i sent the base's PR team an email and they said they do,but only in groups of 25-40. They said one i have a group i can be placed on the waiting list which is already into 2019.

So does anyone know anyone who might be on one of these groups tours, so that i could get me and my dad on the group or has anyone thought to start one on here so we could get involved.

okay so we need 25 minimum to a maximum 40, do you think i should start a whole new thread? The group needs a name too, i was just going to call it fighter control, they ask for a bit of background information on the group, i was just going to say we are all members of a online forum and are keen military aviation fans, would the site administrators have a problem with that?

also would need to know if A. you are disabled B. Currently serving in the military C. If you are are currently an aviator.

Lastly no one who has been on the base tour in the last two years would be allowed to join they say, and no one under the age of 15.

We would need to select 8 agencies the group would like to visit, depending on availability , some may not be available, they are

Obviously Aircraft static display is the one we want, and i am fine with waiting, even if it is mid 2019 like i was told.

Flying agencies*
• Aircraft static display (Due to mission requirements and high demand, requesting this demonstration may cause a longer wait for a tour date)
• Life support (pilots’ flight equipment)
• Fighter squadron tour

Operations support agencies*
• Airfield management
• Aircraft control tower
• Radar approach control
• Military Working Dogs
• Fire department
• Armory demonstration (weapons)
• Military vehicle operations/ vehicle display
• Weather squadron
• Deployment center (where and how we deploy our Airmen)
• Mobility (gear and equipment for troops deploying such as gas mask, protective gear)
• Explosive ordnance disposal (bomb squad)
• Military battlefield first aid (for smaller groups)
• Aircraft Fuels

Personnel support agencies*
• Hospital (For smaller groups)
• Base housing (quick drive through)
• Base Environmental Agency

Be very careful what you call the group as you will need permission from the FC Admin team to use the FC name. I think they will advise you to use a different name entirely.

I'd be up for this, been wanting to see the preserved aircraft (up close) in the Memorial park at LN for ages, the active stuff would be a bonus!
Cheers,

Thanks, Hernaman86 for looking into this. I'm happy to wait for the 'airside' tour. Please keep us updated and PM me if you need any personal details. Thanks again.
