Perhaps due to inappropriate parking, or the excessive number of visitors toward the end of school holidays, the gate has been coned off for a few weeks.

Laminated notices, complete with apology for any inconvenience, advise that the gate will remain coned off for large load vehicle access until 18th October.

We all trust that Contractors are on schedule.

A quiet day at the gate yesterday waiting for a drop of night flying.

Nevertheless, I was truly entertained by the undulating flight of a large flock of birds, in and out of the adjacent bushes.

I later identified these birds as Fieldfare, and understand that they come over here from northern Europe for the winter months.

Something else to enjoy when the military activity is a tad reduced.

As these "Tuesday Club" posts just involve Coningsby, would they not be better in the Coningsby section? That way other members of this forum would know what gate, what visitors or what parking etc they refer to.

Delighted to report that the heavy duty temporary road surface to the new access facility adjacent CG1 has been lifted and will allow the grass to recover..
Hence, large lorry movements have finished, and with luck all contractors will finish soon.
Then, of course, Matey will be pondering a new fence and removing all those annoying cones.
Then, the gate security personnel can return to the main job we trained them for!

So that's 6 years and 25 pages where those reading the Coningsby section have missed posts about Coningsby. Or for 6 years and 24 pages readers are confused about what location these posts are referring to :-)

Maybe if they were retitled "Coningsby Tuesday Club..Info, Updates & Messages" more would understand.

I don't really think it matters where this is located? Its contents are largely about parochial topics of little or no interest to other Forum members outside of the 'Club'. On that basis you either choose to read it ...or NOT!
Any information about night-flying, non-flying days or any other details that emerge are generally available elsewhere & naturally assume that non-descript grey jets with tedious tail-codes hold anyone's interest beyond 5 minutes. :pop:

Anyone really wanting to find anything on the forum only had to put a word in the search box and hey presto. Using the basic forum functionality isn't difficult and can often save having to ask and wait.

Not really because if you're part of the Tuesday Club you would know about this section. So anyone not part of it wouldn't be particularly interested anyway.
They used to do their club in the Coningsby section, but due to complaints from other members had to move it to the general section - as they invariably just chat about things relevant to themselves: what time they'll be arriving at the airfield; what crash gate they're going to tomorrow; what the weather will be like; if it's someone's birthday; etc etc.

A busy day at the gate with plenty of activity from all 4 Squadrons.

Plenty of ground aborts, encouraging the serviceable one to give us an afterburn departure which with a cloud base less than 2,000 feet really did sound the business.

Very pleased to report that the mesh fencing has been completely replaced throughout the whole CG1 area, albeit with a higher fencing and a triple barbed wire topping.

The cones remain, whilst matey continues to work on the 12 Sqdn new complex, and hopefully everything will return to normal by the end of January.

Lets see how long before the fence lasts before people start cutting holes in it Ted.

We trust that you will all join us in wishing our part timer Jimbo a very happy 86th birthday.

His time in the RAF Regiment only took him to Gibraltar, where perhaps the fresh air did him good, as he still enjoys sitting at The Gate drawing on a cigar.

No mound dwellers visible above ground level today, perhaps waiting for the rearranged soil to settle.

Plenty of flying activity, and part of the road traffic at the gate included a Bulgarian articulated lorry - not a problem, they are NATO members.

Tyrant 42, playing catch up, told tower he was skipping the tanker and going straight to the 323s. Don't know how much of an input he had, as shortly after, the full Tyrant41 four ship came in rtb as a delightful echelon right break to the visual.

Vortex536 "Wokka Wokka", ex Holbeach range in for the refuel as light faded.

The status and activity at CG1 remain as in previous weeks.

The cones remain to indicate no parking within some 50 metres of the gate. Cars, vans lorries and articulates continue to enter and leave in large numbers.

Whilst 2 or 3 cars could be discretely parked, any more would cause an obstruction to the lorries waiting on the approach whilst their paperwork is assessed.

Hi all,

Did anyone happen to log the ID's of Triplex 51/52 on Tuesday afternoon, guessing they departed around 14.30 ish? They overshot Leuchars as a pair( 52 had the lead) @ 15.16, and departed low to south @ 2000ft.
Nice to get some Coningsby jets up here again!

Thanks,

Mikey
