This will also give me the chance to further inspect progress on the huge F35 HAS to the south of the Marham runway, 06 end.

Norfolk County Council may eventually consider the provision of a laybye, to the side of the main road, so keeping over enthusiastic glimpers out of harms way when the new planes become active.
there is also a lot of underground work going on so I was told on Fri

Metro line to Norwich (Thorpe) main line station, or to somewhere nearer the base? I cannot find a map of Norfolk underground lines - all I have is the London one!

Last week was a bit quiet at the gate, although it was nice to see a rather grubby Luftwaffe Kilo31.

With XI Sqdn away on Red Flag, and night flying, this week looks even worse.

At least there is an exercise involving Muckleborough/Sculthorpe/EATA, with Tornado and F15 activity both day and evening. Holbeach range also busy with a lot of F15s to keep me alert midday.

Noted that the Daily Fail advises we have 137 Typhoon, 62 Tornado and 14 F35B to defend us. I will therefore have my clipboard out tomorrow, taking serial numbers of the 14 and of the hidden 25 Tornado - failing that, the Comet A400M may delight us with another tree top flybye.

The Daily Mail defence director is welcome to join me on a tour of the 49 WW2 Norfolk RAF bases (ending at the only one still open), followed by the Saturday Royal peasant shoot and Sunday service at a local church.

Happy 53rd birthday Hotdog - 23rd.

Happy 84th birthday Jimbo - 27th.

Sadly I have to report the loss of our very good friend, and fellow Tuesday Club member, George. Following some three years in a care home, George passed away peacefully around midday today (at the age of 78) and will be sorely missed.

George will be remembered, by those he met, for his wit and sense of humour, and for his friendship to all who came to meet him. His generosity was a credit.

He will also be remembered for the regular supply of prize winning meat pies and cakes from Fields of Anlaby - sometimes too good to finish.

A sad loss.

As we pass through the Vernal Equinox at 16.15, please join me in wishing our No.2 son Chris the very best on his 40th.

Also, I trust that all you FCers will remember that The Captain has now reached a ripe young 53rd.

Following excellent attendance during the qualifying period, with only one week off whilst having a heart attack, I am pleased to report that Glen Brown has been elected as a full time member of The Tuesday Club.

We trust that Glen will continue to enjoy his time at the gate.

Whilst at the gate last week, we were wondering if anyone has seen our good friend Jimbo recently.

Jimbo is now well into his 85th year, and whilst we know that he has difficulty with hot weather, he has not been on parade for some time.

As the NOTAM advised, a drop of night flying this week - so not a lot occuring at the gate.

The 3 ship display team returned from Europe at 13.00, and Lossie55 (brand new ZM925) kept us alert with wet start/generator failure and ongoing depower/repower, before finally lifting mid afternoon.

Razor11 started our real entertainment with a performance departure, Razor12 on catch up, before a couple of Monkeys and then plenty of 29 Sqdn.

It was nice to meet up again with hotdog and Mark2, whose work commitments prevent regular attendance, and we look forward to their next visit - birthday wishes to Camper123 this coming weekend.

Whilst we still await the official proculation ref festive shutdown, it is most likely that Tuesday 18th will be the last active day.

In previous years, this day has been a bit of a letdown in the sense that one Lossie departure only is not much fun.

Hence, Tuesday Club Members (some of whom have only missed a handful of days on parade since 2003) may well consider Tuesday 11th as the last chance to exchange annual delights and best wishes.

We will of course wish all you other FCers the very best for the festive break and look forward to being back on parade on 8th January.

Bit of a quiet day at the gate, but with four members on parade.

More than interesting to note fog rolling in at 07 end as temperature fell to 1C locally. Result being that chute recovery needed guidance to locate brake parachute that plopped out rather than deploying properly - at least all but one rubber bands remained with chute.

Last two landing planes, due to reduced visibility, had to back track to 25 end taking northern perimeter to tower before moving with care to ASP.

Tuesday Club, active since 2003, would like to wish Happy New Year and all good health and happiness to all past/present/future members.

Looking forward to an exciting year, especially when we see (and hear) a few more F35s airborne.

Happy New Year to you also Mark.

Not many on parade yesterday, but I was delighted by Chaos22 doing a performance take off in the correct manner - burner on, keep it low, rotate at tower, vertical to 14,000 feet, off to Holbeach.

See you in the spring.

Plenty of members and part timers on parade this week - myself, Owen and Chris, Glen, hotdog and Mark2.

Plenty of Typhoon activity, given that we don't have much left on the flying front, including a performance departure.

Two ship Strike Eagle overshoot, always a delight, F35B through the western gap for a PD at Waddington runway 20, and two clean (tankless) Monkees - 41 Sqdn Apollo en route to Marham for Wednesday entertainment.

Night flying next week, but hopefully things will liven up during the afternoon.
