Just say NO
I have NEVER taken DRUGS. (except for getting drunk ONCE, and been sick) I cannot understand WHY people do. Are their lives so boring & SAD?
I have never been offered drugs in discos, pubs or anyware, and I would not know to obtain such filth. All those names like Bubble, E's and wacky backy dont mean a thing to me.
What sad lives do these yougsters live?

Re: Just say NO

Not sure you should label people as sad and boring just because they do something you don't agree with.

Personal choice, as long as people are old enough and educated enough too the risks. People on here will drink, smoke or stand right under the flight path at an airfield even though people know the risks. Its not just youngsters who do drugs either and what gives anyone the right to suggest drug takers live boring lives when drugs are right across the gender, class and geographical board. Great that someone who openly knows very little about the subject matter chooses to start a debate about it with such an balanced opening statement.
Re: Just say NO
Yeah, my thoughts are basically if you need to take drugs to have a good time or relax you're doing something wrong. I know people who have started taking drugs and smoking regularly since turning 14, and it has got them nowhere but it being the focus of their lives and escalating in regularity of chasing 'getting high' off whatever they can get their hands on which leads to them dropping grades at school (skipping lessons to go for a smoke) and losing money - all goes to buying more drugs which then has led to some people I know stealing money from their parents bank accounts to fund their addictions.
But, that's their life - if they want to ruin it that way then they can, and I'm sure they will realise it isn't as good as they thought it was and eventually regret it when it is too late.
As for finding drugs, there will always be someone who knows someone... you just have to be in the circle. Living in the sort-of-countryside I would not have expected it to exist here... and.... well I've already explained it.
Don't have a problem with people getting drunk but it's overrated anyway in my opinion. Just end up doing things you later regret, embarrassing yourself, feeling terrible the next day and throwing up everywhere. I think I would prefer to have a clear head since if it's my friends who are passing out and throwing up I would rather help them out than have no idea what I was doing because I could barely stand up for example.
And one final point which I thought I should mention to anyone reading... the younger generation are not all like this - there is still hope.

I've never really did the drug thing I gave it a sample didn't do anything for me so that was that . I hit the bottle after a nasty break up but was sensible enough to see it would lead me down a path I didn't need to travel down , my friends think I'm stupid but it my life not there's and I'm happy I gave it up its made me a better person , I'm still a miserable sod as the yeovilton collective will vouch for but that's another matter

Re: Just say NO
When I said "enough said" I meant I was going to come back in to this discussion at some point
Coffee is a drug,
Tea is a drug,
Sugar is addictive and can loosely be classed as a drug..
If the government can get tax off it they are happy.
Some drugs were developed for military applications..
US pilots are often offered go pills (amphetamines).
I have it on authority that a dearly departed "ex mariner who served in WW2 on a fast patrol boat" lived almost entirely on condensed milk and yes you guessed it something that kept them awake.

Re: Just say NO
I lived, and worked in my own bar/disco in Ibiza for four years, and in all that time I can honestly state, on my kids lives, that I never took one pill or even felt the need to. During a 'low period' (Missing my wife to be, back home in the UK etc) I did have a 'line' of a substance with somebody very famous, it was his , so it made it feel even better to try 'the experiment'. It did nothing for me, just made me more tired than I already was, so I never 'experimented' again!
A real eye opener is Ibiza, you have 3 million tourists coming in, each with a pocket full of dosh to spend on 'entertainment' or whatever floats their boats. All I wanted (And got) was my slice of the pie, working for up to 20 hours a day, 7 days a week, for 8 months, it was enough to tire anybody out and screw with your head, but my 'drug' was knowing I was coming back to the UK in November a ' Double Millionaire' (5000 pounds being a million pesetas at the time!)
Drugs (pills mostly) are openly available. and mostly are handled properly, people just 'popping' one before heading out for a night on the tiles , or having something to keep them going. It's all part of the scene I'm afraid.
Some places you could go to after work were proper dens of iniquity, folks disappearing to the loos to 'do a line' or sitting at a table whilst a spliff did the rounds. But nobody ever got 'wasted' and started fighting or anything stupid.
My own personal 'drug' was a large Vodka and Tonic! And how many of you don't 'rely' on that cup of coffee in the morning to get you going.
