Scam via YouTube

Several mates have been hit by a scam that is, apparently, coming through while on YouTube. When you switch on your computer for the 1st time after being on YouTube, the screen says that your computer is locked because you have accessed terrorist material and child pornography. It also has a Police badge on the screen. It says that to have your computer unlocked and not have the material sent to the police, you can pay 100 GBP to an account. I did say that why would a screen that indicates it's to do with the police let you off criminal activity by paying a fee! One of my mates said that the panic that went through him stopped him from thinking logically about it! He didn't pay fortunately, his wife sussed that something wasn't quite right. 100 GBP written this way and the police badge raised his wife's suspicions. He got his computer unlocked by doing a reboot or something, I'm not a computer whizz kid so perhaps someone in the know will be able to help with this. He did report it to his Internet provider, Virgin.

Hopefully, no-one else will get hit by this but I thought I would just give everyone the heads up as we have plenty of links to YouTube from our favourite site.

This scam comes through from many sources - one solution is to shut down your pc and re-start in "Safe Mode" - then run your virus scan or if necessary D/L the latest version of Mcaffee "Stinger" either online or if possible from another pc or hard drive - it will find and remove.
