RAF to pay for the BBC!
Seems incredible but apparently the Cabinet (Meet the Fokkers!) are actually considering it!

'Today in the House of Commons, Labour MP Peter Prinsley proposed cutting the UK’s planned order of F-35 fighter jets by one to preserve the BBC World Service’s vital role as a global soft power asset.'

Where does it say the cabinet are considering it? The comment was made by a Back bench Labour MP on his own.slogen51 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:36 pmSeems incredible but apparently the Cabinet (Meet the Fokkers!) are actually considering it!

Re: RAF to pay for the BBC!
Not the BBC, but the World Service which is run by the BBC but paid for by the Foreign Office.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

Then another one here for something else, a couple more to save another worthwhile cause - where will it end? Second-hand Cessna 150s with pop-guns!

Re: RAF to pay for the BBC!
Talk about an extremely clickbait title!
It really wasn't what was said. It's the World Service, and a comparison was made in the cost from 1 F-35B to the cost of the World Service.
And if you fully read it, nowhere does it say the Cabinet is considering it

While no formal proposal has been made to reduce the number of F-35 jets, and it’s unlikely, the exchange highlights the importance of the BBC World Service in international relations and the cost of maintaining the UK’s defence capabilities.

Considering then funding for the 74 F-35's was ringfenced, sure we'll be alright for nowNighthawke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:20 pmThen another one here for something else, a couple more to save another worthwhile cause - where will it end? Second-hand Cessna 150s with pop-guns!

Sometime in the near future, "Unidentified signal incoming, scramble the BBC World Service".

Soon be having TV license letters dropped out of A400M's

Re: RAF to pay for the BBC!
Even if it was a credible suggestion 1 F-35 would give £100 million once, which is 1 years World Service funded… what happens in the following years…
Re: RAF to pay for the BBC!
The BBC World Service can have the insurance money we'll get for that F-35 that fell off the front of a boat.
Seems fair.
Seems fair.

Already came up with that outlook James a few years ago only I thought I would be called up to fly a Glider with Pea shooter. With the SNP DEFENCE BUDGET I wouldnt have got either Glider or peas due to shortages.Due to some one elses problems.James Cutting wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 6:47 pmConsidering then funding for the 74 F-35's was ringfenced, sure we'll be alright for nowNighthawke wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 5:20 pmThen another one here for something else, a couple more to save another worthwhile cause - where will it end?
