Never liked him ,but he did a good job on the independence issue( which I am against)which made it easy for Twinkletoes to take over when he resigned.Knew Andrew Welsh one of his colleagues who said the man on tele wasnt the one public saw. Dont know about Twinkles enjoying the swally Mike.Dont think they have a bar where she might be going. As a man who really stood up for what he believed in I hope he does Rest In Peace .

Never liked him, and can't recall ever meeting any non-politician who did, but I did recently enjoy (for the first time) something he said when Douglas Ross resigned as leader of the Scottish Conservatives (to allow him to continue to pursue being an MP without any conflict). Alex Salmond said "This is the first case of a rat deserting a sinking ship whilst simultaneously trying to clamber aboard a gravy train". Said with his usual smarminess too, but on this rare occasion a brilliant quote.

I liked the one he came out with on Off the Ball when asked what an Oxymoron was he said it was combining contradictary words opposite meanings such as Honest Blair.

Talking of 'gravy trains' why was Salmond in North Macedonia ? Perhaps the visit was in relation to Macedonia's declaration of independence from Yugoslavia back in the 90's

Amazing that the Scottish Government are in talks with the UK Government about the repatriation of Salmond’s body. He didn’t care much for the RAF or any other part of the UK forces when he was FM, so why should taxpayers money now be wasted. Maybe FFM Sturgeon could go and pick him up in the SNP battle bus…….sorry forgot it was impounded. I for one will not be shedding a tear for the self indulgent, pompous, man. He crippled Scotland and put the country 20 years back into the past with all his independence ideology and down right lies.

Was reading today that negotiations are still taking place in regards to the British Gov, repatriating the body. One reason given by Salmond representatives is the lack of commercial airlinks between North Macedonia and the UK, which I find strange as he obviously found a route out there. He was a Former First Minister, former MP and a former MSP, however as it stood on Saturday he was no different to me or most of us on here in being a member of the public, and as would be the case if any of us die overseas then your travel insurance would kick in, starting to think he didn’t have any. Waiting for the “gofundme” begging to start

It should be the responsibility of his family to arrange the repatriation of his body.

Delusional…the guard I suppose was at the wish of the North Macedonian Government, who did they actually think he was?
