Ticketmaster need to be stopped

Post by Gary » Sat Aug 31, 2024 10:57 am

So the Oasis tickets are on sale. Face value for standing at Wembley £150, people are reporting with dynamic pricing they are listed by Ticketmaster for £400+. About time the government got involved and stopped this practice.

The Uber business model, supply and demand.

Pre-sale were all face value

But with Uber you can choose Lyft or a regular taxi. If you want to see Oasis you had no choice but to choose Ticketmaster.

The Advertising Standards Authority are clearly looking for test cases on this.
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) told the BBC it could not pass comment on Ticketmaster's pricing in this instance.
“We encourage anyone with concerns to get in touch with us and we’d carefully assess whether there were any grounds for action,” an ASA spokesperson said.
But they added: “Our rules (the Advertising Codes) are clear – quoted prices must not mislead.”

True...although I'm sure Manchester will have it's share of fence hoppers

Was prepared to pay the £150 but not the £400+ that Ticketmaster attempted to charge for 'in demand' tickets - did they not think the tickets would be in demand?!

People are suggesting a return to the good old fashioned British tradition of queuing for physical tickets but I don't think today's society would queue in an orderly fashion - would be a big scrum nowadays I reckon!

Nothing to do with Ticketmaster. They do not set the prices or the policy (dynamic pricing), this is all set by the promotors of Oasis who give Ticketmaster the rules they want applied to the selling. Also, Ticketmaster were not the only vendor, seetickets.com were the other and they had to apply the same rules passed down from Oasis management. But why spoil a good rant with the truth!! PS was in the queue for Heaton Park tickets for hours but got nowhere… but I Don’t Look Back In Anger.

Also public greed, regardless of what Oasis are saying there are now literally 1000's of tickets available on Viagogo and Stubhub for extortionate prices!

Or... be tactful... sign up as a fan before tickets are announced and get priority ticket..

Took 20 mins on Friday to get 2 sets of 4, for me and the partner, at face value.

the whole thing is ridiculous, and only came about because of Noel's divorce settlement that sees him losing a rumoured £20m. For the London gigs there's a £2.75 sustainability fee for Wembley stadium, to help ensure the stadium's future.

Wembley Stadium.

The Music Venue Trust have been campaining for a £1 levy on each big venue ticket to help fund grass roots venues which are in serious trouble with many closing, especially since covid. At the moment voluntary but the last government and this one have supported this and there are plans for it to become law if the larger industry businesses don't get round the table and make it happen. They need to do thgis as the figures being mentioned are a lot more than £1/ticket. Some bands have agreed and actively support this, they know where they came from and the debt they owe to small venues, it seems Oasis have refused. Only eleven of the original thirty four venues from their first tour are still in business. Companies like Live Nation, Ticketmaster and all the other big labels, ticket agencies and promoters are killing the goose that lays the golden egg.
In this world there's two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.
