Described as the Godfather of British Blues, possibly the biggest influence to my understanding of the genre, if not it was my younger brother who constantly played his LPs: "Crusade" and "Hard Road". Saw "The Bluesbreakers" during the late 1960s; his guitarist at a Morecambe pier gig was Mick Taylor who played an absolute blinder combining the effects of a wah pedal with the Bigsby on his Gibson Les Paul guitar which he'd got some time earlier from Keith Richard- made the hair, when I still had it, stand up on the back of my neck.
John, of course, was a multi-instrumentalist; a solo album at the time was The Blues Alone- also worth a listen.
Now gone to join all his buddies: Alexis Korner, Peter Green, Jack Bruce et al. to rest his harmonicas, keyboards and guitars.

Sad news indeed, RIP.
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
