Not sure he used more fuel than everybody else, just more like Mercedes used less fuel in the car than everybody else. You're right about Hamilton being told to lift and coast, so I'd imagine Russell would have been using the same amount of fuel in his car too, but without a safety car and some coasting he got underweight.
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Re: F1 2024
Fuel isn't a factor when a car is weighed after a race, the minimum weight of the car + driver should be at least 798kg with an empty fuel tank. Russel's car + himself were initially weighed at 798kg but then they found there was still 1.5kg of fuel still in it which brought the combined weight down to 796.5kg.Hurn wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 2:45 pmNot sure he used more fuel than everybody else, just more like Mercedes used less fuel in the car than everybody else. I'm trying to get my head around this. So you are saying he didnt use enough fuel then?Mike wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2024 3:28 pmFuel isn't a factor when a car is weighed after a race, the minimum weight of the car + driver should be at least 798kg with an empty fuel tank. No, the combined weight of the car + driver must be at least 798kg.

Re: F1 2024
A belated (and possibly undeserved) "Get in there, Lewis!".
I distinctly remember Hamilton radioing his team to say "tyres are good" a lap or two before he was asked to come in for stop 2. I wonder what the state of play would have been had Hamilton also attempted a one stop - I suspect both Mercedes' may have been sitting ducks for Piastri's fresh rubber versus dead tyres had both drivers gone for it but we will never know!
I also wonder if Hamilton is regretting his early decision to join Ferrari with Mercedes appearing to be making significant progress with their upgrades - I suspect any regret or otherwise will depend on where Mr Newey ends up after Red Bull.

Re: F1 2024
Poor Carlos, another great driver believing the dream that Williams will once again be great. Pity there was nowhere else to go with the likes of Stroll and Perez showing they have what it takes to stay at top teams. Looking more likely that not Kimi will drop straight into the Merc seat I guess. Sitting 7th in F2 at the moment with no feature wins and two sprint wins it's truly deserved.

Re: F1 2024
Yes and no. Their only options really are Lawson, who's still a bit of an unknown, or Ricciardo, who's results recently (in a pants car) aren't much to shout about. Tsunoda isn't really an option due to his Honda ties.
If he does manage to sort himself out then Perez is a solid no.2 driver, but if he doesn't, he could lose potentially both championships for the energy drinks company.

Re: F1 2024
Agreed I just feel Lawson needs to be in that vcarb and would have thought putting Daniel in the redbull for the second half could have enabled him to get a bit of experience before 2025 which could have freed up Ricciardo to show if he’s still got it
Will be interesting to see what happens with Tsunoda though

Re: F1 2024
I don't think Lewis will be regretting his decision. Win or lose next season, he will be very satisfied with his career, and, I think in the back of every driver's mind is the thought that being a Ferrari driver is another ambition achieved. Lewis is maturing very well in his thinking etc., as he gets older, and I think that he would like another championship, but if it doesn't happen... not too much loss of sleep.
Re: F1 2024
Agreed, could be interesting depending on where Adrian Newy goes though if Ferrari would be a possibility for him
Re: F1 2024
Really?
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
Re: F1 2024
Seems to be a very strong rumour, from multiple sources. Including Jeremy Clarkson!
They are also trying to attract boy wonder.

Must be correct if the t--t Clarkson is involved
Can they afford the boy?

Ex-zachary.
Though if the rumoured contract for Newey is true, he'll be on far more!
