Diesel prices
Crazy jump in diesel price at weeting BP from 155.9 to 168.9 per litre, guess that's the affect from the Russian invasion or possibly brexit, either way it's getting ridiculous i remember a few years back for Christmas they gave us a special deal at 99.9
Re: Diesel prices
Yeah! That was very, very magnanimous of them. Extremely Festive generosity.... Oh, wait. We were in a nationwide lock-down! You weren't allowed to travel & visit relatives or 'gather'.
Didn't matter if it was 25p a litre because the 'essential journeys' you made were to airbases that were shut for around 3 weeks anyway!
I'm going over to used chip oil from here onward & recycle a waste product. Give them freeloading cyclists something to sniff too.

Re: Diesel prices
I was a little surprised to see 170.9p for diesel yesterday on the outskirts of a town, away from the premium A road sites. I worry for those who have to watch every penny that goes into the tank, minimum wage earners who have to drive to get the work etc. Any price rise for many is insignificant compared to the cost of a latte inside the garage but some are in a much different place.
Re: Diesel prices
I think it's called profiteering, the fuel at the pumps would have been paid for maybe 6 months ago, or even longer, so the recent jump in crude price shouldn't filter through for months, that's the theory anyway..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Re: Diesel prices
They have to cover the replacement cost of the fuel
We are going out tonight, thought we might go somewhere expensive for a treat so taking the missus to fill up the car!

Diesel tax - 57.95p Fuel Duty per litre plus 20% VAT
Electricity tax - 5% VAT.
I wish I was rich enough to afford an electric car.
I could drive past the fuel forecourts watching the poor get poorer.

Re: Diesel prices
Crude oil price rises should not already affect refined product at the garage? It should take a little time to filter through?.
Is it the huge losses of the companies pulling out of Russia the real reason for instant price rises?

Thank god I don't own a car

Re: Diesel prices
I entirly agree ! I have a 2.2 DCAT Toyota Rav4 that cost me £315 in car tax last year even though its emission readings on the Toyota MOT test were zero ppm and have been since I bought it ! I will have to go spotting on a zero taxable road priority one, cycle if it get any worse
Toyota say your diesel for my CAT system must be low in sulphur content. So I rang Asda House at Leeds when Walmart owned them, to see what they said about their diesel fuel ! They said they did not know and were not allowed to comment !
So i spoke to a tanker driver to the forcourts fron Immingham and he says its all the same stuff he gives to supermarkets and private forcourts !
So why are they selling it at widely different prices
Cheers

Re: Diesel prices
The forcourts only get around 4 pence a litre out of it.
As for electric cars, would not touch them, word has it now that thieves are now nicking the charger cables for the copper that is in them.

Re: Diesel prices
Apparently production has been increased in Middle East to try and ease the situation, time will tell I guess..
