Formula 1 2022

Post by plmc135 » Sun Jan 02, 2022 8:48 am

Hoping the new regulations for 2022 bring more teams into the realms of podium finishes. First race Bahrain in just 77 days time.

I predict evolution rather than revolution. Merc and RB will still be out front. Ferrari and McLaren will be second tier but closer. The rest will follow to make up the numbers. Verstappen will win the championship because Russell will take points from Hamilton. The only question for me is can Perez improve enough to win the Constructors championship for RB. I'll go with no - because Merc have a stronger combined driver line up in Hamilton and Russell.

I still have the thought that Lewis will outperform George. I don't know why I think this way, but competition [from your team mate] will always bring the best out of LH.

Hamilton has the experience and team knowledge so should comfortably have the edge over the season on Russell but... I suspect Russell is on a par or better than Rosberg / Button and in both cases there were instances where they had the edge on Hamilton. Factor in that this isn't likely to be a one horse Mercedes season and that Verstappen is a clear #1 at RB.

More interest will be the interteam contests. LeClerc vs Sainz will be interesting - I'll go for Sainz; and Norris vs Riccardo - hard to call and very dependent on if Riccardo has influenced the car characteristics in his favour. Even Vettel vs Stroll will be interesting. An aging Vettel vs an underrated (IMO) Stroll.

I think Russell has the ability to beat Hamilton, quite comfortably with youth on his side. That said I think he'll be a good boy for his first year but if he sticks it on pole and makes good starts that will be that. Regardless, as has been said, I think they'll damage each others title hopes so Max the champ for me. Perez to settle down and do better but not enough for the constructors. McLaren for 3rd place with a blinding year and a few wins when circumstances allow. Ferrari in a close 4th with Charles getting on top of Carlos. I think Aston will struggle with their driver line up and we'll hear Seb's retirement announced. Hope to see Haas come back a little, would be nice to see a solid share of points between them, Williams and Alpha Romeo. Rear end battles for the remaining points can be fun when there's not much going on up front. Alpha Tauri will be a pain in the ass again, inconsistent, especially with Tsunoda, maybe spoiling weekends for McLaren and Ferrari when they are on it.
That's what I think we'll see, this is what I want to see...........
Lewis champ
Russell with a good haul of wins
Total misjudgement from Newey and Red Bull uncompetitive
Williams ace it and come in 2nd
Wins for Norris

Good luck in wishing for a duffer from Adrian Newey. He has designed some superb F1 cars over the years and would be a major asset to any team,..... unfortunately he currently works for Herr Marko .

Lewis champ Yes please
Russell with a good haul of wins Yep, go on then
Total misjudgement from Newey and Red Bull uncompetitive I'd literally jizz my pants at this
Williams ace it and come in 2nd Can take it or leave it
Wins for Norris Yes please, even more so a McLaren/Mercedes battle for the championships that doesn't turn sour.

But ignore Ferrari at your own peril. I'd put (a small amount of) money on them having the jump on everyone this year. Or being 2020 all over again.

73 days to go
Still, none of that matters if it doesn't suit the race officials that the winner is actually winning come the end of the season...

Apparently f1 has banned air displays from this year unless the aircraft are using biofuels basically. That should go down well here.

Looks like it's military displays that won't take place, Red Arrows and such, sponsored aircraft can display if using bio fuel, Red Bull can display their historic military aircraft apparently.. :'(
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

I don't really have a problem with that. Racing is for racing cars [could fit another race in [historics or saloons etc] and Airshows are for... well,... Aeroplanes. :)

Silverstone exempt apparently as the Reds are neither Military or commercial. Not sure that's true but I read it on the internet so it must be.

Sprint races confirmed to be back at Imola, Austria and Brazil. Better hope these new regulations pull off as intended, otherwise that's at least 2 extra dull races confirmed.

To add to the shockingly awful looking cars so far, this season is looking about as appealing as an untreated bout of syphilis.

Oh and testing behind closed doors... Yea, defo doing it for the fans for sure.

I for one am looking forward to the new season, the cars look fine to me, especially the Mclaren, superb.

Not really bothered about the looks. Lets just have a good safe season with proper stewarding, a ban on Helmut Marko entering a circuit, and less bickering!!.

Very true, but if no one likes them, no ones going to watch it...

And yes the McLaren is the best looking so far.

Less cheating (Max Verstappen, Red Bull) would be a good place to start from for this year's F1 season.
